  • Re: Just bought a Beocenter 4000!

It's the same tape transport in the BC4000 as 2000/5000,so same belt etc issues apply, but very repairable, and worth the effort too. I like these Centres, very reliable and great sounding.Rather sneered at by some "experts",as they were made in Japan for B&O by I suspect,Hitachi? Well made though, and as time has shown,to the usual B&O standards. Enjoy! Nick

  • Re: Which small B&O TVs still work in the UK?

How about a DTV Scart adaptor? This is a small box that plugs into a Scart socket, and effectively converts the tv to digital. If you get a Logitech remote control too,you can have one handset to operate the tv ,converter and Sky box, neato?Dtv via a crt tv telly is impressive too. I've used this solution for several people who have cherished B&O telly's still capable of good service. Regards, Nick Nick

  • Re: Beocenter 2200 Cassette Problem

Interesting. The bias osc should'nt be active in playback of course. It seems as though there is some problem with system switching? There are some capacitor issues with the record/play circuit, but this may be due to a faulty record/play reed relay,or it's control.Electrically these little Centre's are proving to be very long lived, considering their complexity. Worth checking further indeed. Whereabouts are you sir? Nick

  • Re: Beovision MX8000 image too wide

Er,the MX8000 is a conventional 4.3 aspect telly,so your connected receiver output should be set to that rather than16.9.It may also have the option of 4.3 centre cutout, which might give a better aspect. Otherwise, the MX width can be adjusted, but rarely needs to be.It's a delve inside/service menu job tho,so you may need expect help? Nick

  • Re: Beocenter 9000 Service Manual

The Beocentre 9500 is very similar, and the manual is on site. There are differences with the tape deck and cd decoder, but overall you should find the '9500 manual will suffice.I have the BC9000 manual, but not the cd supplement, and have been able to refurbish several '9000's,not least with help from other Beoworld members. What problems do you have with your Beocentre 9000? • Re: Beocenter 9000 Service Manual

Beocentre 9500 manuals are often offered on e.bay.Mostly these are on cdr/dvdr,but also original paper manuals appear too.You will need to replace the caps on the cd servo panel at least, but don't touch the adjustment presets.C2103 is the "usual suspect",and must be replaced with the same type.Search the site for many posts on this subject. I've seen some benefit from recapping the cd decoder panel too, which employs some of the same type of capacitor. That should get the cd section

  • Re: Beocenter 9000

There are many opinions (see archive) on this. The easiest solution is simply to glue the plastic supports to the glass using a gel type glue.I prefer to clean away all the old glue residue, and apply new double sided tape fixative. This ensures that the glass "sits" cleanly when reassembled. Many available tapes are too thick,so the glass is raised, and the touch operation may become intermittant. I've been using tape designed to secure mirror glass to plastic frames. It's a messy time

  • Re: How to connect beolab 6000 speakers to a 5500 system

The line in/out links were provided for adding say,a graphic equaliser or monitor type tape deck.Interupting the circuit here will not only cut off the main amp but also the headphone and speaker 2 outlets. Also,as the line output is at fixed line level, you will also need ear defenders,as the speakers will only play at full volume!! Better to connect to the pre-amp output sockets, and vary volume normally. However the speaker muting does'nt work when connecting headphones or pressing mute,so if

  • Re: 4002/5513 second question- arm action with STOP command

The arm should pop up quickly, there is a spring for this. You may need to recheck all the lever's and pivots for free movement. They can seem ok,but need to be really free.Once the holding current of the solenoid is removed, the arm mech should return to it's raised position quickly without the pu dragging. • Re: what needle for a Beogram 6000 4ch

CD4 seemed to be doomed from the outset. The record companies resented having to make albums available in several formats,so there was a very limited catalogue for CD4.The format was very temperamental in use too.I remember that the MMC6000 was the only pu capable of passing the carrier signal for the rear channel info.It was affected by temperature,so we often had to remove it from the deck, hold it in the palm of the hand, then refit it to get results!!! Once working though,it was the best of the
