• Re: Firmware upgrade Beolab 20
@Michael, in order to process the update to your BL20 do you need to OWN a transmitter 1 or would it work with any? I am not so tech saffy , but you’re welcome to borrow my transmitter 1 if that would be of help. Ferdinand
I don’t think so but it has to be paired to the speakers (which is easily done I think). Very kind of you but I’m located in Sweden and you probably somewhere else? I could ask my retailer if they may have one.
I have also considered buying a transmitter 1 to update my 2 1/2 year old 20s. Last year I looked in to it and was told that the updates that were available at that time would be of no benefit to me.
I wonder what they mean by that. Either that you already have the latest firmware or that they don’t think it added/fixed enough for the cost of the service? Either way I’d say it’s a bit unusual when companies don’t think new firmware is beneficial
Not exactly related, but I'll take any excuse I can get to complain about B&Os ridiculous service charges and hidden costs: I was quoted about £600 (about $1000 before Brexit trashed the economy) for delivering a BV 14, setting it up and taking away the boxes (which I'm sure are reused/resold). Needless to say I didn't bother.
Ouch, yes I installed mine myself with a friend. Easy and fun :-)
@Michael You are probsbly using the Beoworld app - and can’t see, that Ferdinand is located in Malmö. MM There is a tv - and there is a BV.
Ah really? Yes I am. And I live there too! But it would be a hassle to disconnect his speakers and then program it for mine and then back. I think.

  • Re: Flash your B&O - new thread!
The Jensens' website (https://jacobjensendesign.com/rosti-mepal) claims the Rosti job was assigned to Jacob, B&B's young employee.
Wow, sorry I was wrongly informed. Nice to read!

  • Firmware upgrade Beolab 20

Hello, I bought a pair of Beolab 20 last year and was offered to update the firmware for about 400 usd by my B&O stores support team. A bit expensive I’d say. Considering I can update my iPhone, my macs and everything else in my life for free.. I thought that the speakers would update over WISA but apparently not. They seemingly do update though if I would have been using a transmitter one. I don’t need one because I use my BeoVision Avant with it’s built in wisa transmitter. Don’t really understand
Not B&O but definitely Jacob Jensen's Design (I had it for years without even knowing!)
It’s neither. It’s by Swedish Sigvard Bernadotte and danish Acton Bjørn.

  • Re: BL8000 foam replacement result

Doesn’t sound right. BL8000 bass element uses rubber surrounds and not foam. They don’t deteriorate in the same speed or way as BL6000 does. The BL 8000 does have foam dampeners inside that does deteriorate and can cause issues with the internal electronics and also cause sound differences due to not damping the case correctly anymore. If you really replaced your rubber surrounds with foam on BL 8000 I’m sure there’s a different sound but the foam will wear in a bit but probably never be as light

  • Re: What's with all the mono-only speakers?

I think people are less trying to replicate music as it was performed in a studio and more trying to make their home comfy and inviting. A smaller speaker thats more flexible in placing and size has perks that a stereo system rarely can provide. Sure a small stereo speaker can somewhat do both but how much stereo separation is there then, and is it worth it? Maybe you want fuller sound instead of directional speakers. A portable speaker is even more inconvenient with stereo since it might be placed
