  • New Penta Mid-range units?

Although my Penta 2's are some years old now they have held up well but I am just getting a little mid-range unit foam rot setting in now. As the units themselves were never good quality to start with I am questioning the logic of just re-foaming them rather than try a new unit altogether. After many hours of searching i have found these: Peerless Vifa NE95W-04 Full Range Speaker I wonder if anyone has any experience with these or others and could make any recommendations? Will they fit? Will

  • Soldering 8 pin DINs.

I have run powerlink cables in walls that have been rebuilt and they will exit via powerlink sockets in the walls. Now I need to have the correct length cables from the sockets to the equipment made up. So, I have the DIN plugs and cables. ( all happy at this point). However, upon attempting to solder plugs and cables I become aware that my age has had a detrimental effect on my eyesight and as this job is quite fiddly it has beaten me! I wonder if anyone on this forum with the required skills and

  • Penta 2's and Beolab 2

I have a very nice pair of Penta 2's owned since new with original boxes! I really I think it would be hard to find a nicer pair anywhere! Fantastic condition Midrange cones replaced this year as one started rotting so I did them all. SKr 7000 Beolab 2. Used once so as new. Boxed. SKr 13000 Located in Stockholm.

  • Beogram 7000 playing up!

Hi. My Beogram 7000 has decided that sometimes it will not lower the tonearm when it should, sometimes it will not raise it at the end of the disc and always it is now not controllable via remote at all, or via the turn (()) control on the deck. All this after the unit was stored for about 18 months previously, all was good. I am assuming that a control module has failed somewhere but perhaps someone else has experienced such a thing with a BG7000 previously?

  • Re: beolab penta 3 settings

Sorry, that is not correct. The L/R refers to powerlink connections as both channels arrive at the speaker. With the 5500 there is no powerlink, only speakerlink. So the correct setting is auto. This will give a delay of approx 30 seconds for the speaker to switch off after shutting down the 5500.

  • Beolab Penta 2

Up for grabs are my beautiful Penta 2's owned from new complete with boxes. These are in mint condition and everything works as it should. Reluctant sale only due to arrival of Beolab 9's which I am still not entirely convinced are any better, just different! Located in Sweden so 6000 Skr.

  • Re: Beosystem 7000 and Beolab 5's.

Well Millemissen I am trying to find the pitfalls of a £15,000 speaker and there are some! To blatently shove the onus in my ear I feel is unfair? Everyone that has listened to my setup has agreed with me so it is not just me alone. The fact is that when digital replaced analogue the "tone" became much courser and for me it can be very noticable and unpleasant. For the amount of money spent I do not expect to sit and curse what I hearing but at times this does happen. Whether that

Well many thanks for the responses. I do have difficulty agreeing with them though... To state that CD reproduces the music as "it was meant to be heard" is a difficult one to swallow when what I hear is a hard, metallic, thin sound? Whatever happened to that rich, colourful, full, detailed analogue music of years before CD's? I just think the Beolab 5's are putting yet another "digital" factor in the equation. Connecting them directly to the CD7000 will make remove any
