  • rl 60.2 speakers input

greetings again from tulsa! i bought a pair of the 60.2's a while back and have just had them sitting waiting for what i wanted to pair them with. i brought home the 5000 system last week and voila i have what i want. my question for this post is, one of the speakers woofers has a little crackle when you make it loud enough to notice. at normal listening levels i do not hear it. i've read somewhere in the past that these speakers are hard to take apart and work on, hence why i'm posting

  • Re: new owner of a beomaster 5000 system!

thank you for the endorsement on the 5000 system! I'm a b&o fan for a long time but just started picking up the vintage items. I'm not going to lie, some of the pieces have been rather frustrating to me, but overall, the sound quality and functionality and ESPECIALLY the look of the pieces i have are second to none. I'll be actively picking up more pieces as i come across them!! best regards! will

  • new owner of a beomaster 5000 system!

greetings again from tulsa! i just brought home a beomaster 5000 system with remote! i bought everything from the son of the original owner and it's all been in storage for the last 20 years or so. the receiver, remote and beogram 5005 phonograph all appear to work as they should. the cd-50 just cycles opening and closing the door and won't read a cd (printed side down). I'm hoping it'll just need a good cleaning. the beocord 5000 sounds like it needs belt(s) replaced. overall though

  • Re: more frustration! beogram 2000 and new soundsmith smmc4 cartridge...

i moved the beogram to another source and it's working properly, albeit it probably needs a little lube and all from sitting in a box for the last 30 years or so. and i picked up a beocord 2000 from my electronics source today and it just plays out of one side on the beomaster as well, although it's the other side. it plays out of the left side, the beogram played out of the right side. so that narrows things down to the beomaster needing some work it appears. where would a fellow begin looking

  • more frustration! beogram 2000 and new soundsmith smmc4 cartridge only plays right side!

greetings again all and happy new year from tulsa, oklahoma! i finally received and installed the soundsmith smmc4 cartridge, i made sure the tracking weight was set to the soundsmith specs and dang it all i only get sound out of the right side! i did notice that there is a slider switch under the turntable for designated cartridges and mine is set for the mmc5. i moved it to the mmc4 setting after trying it on the mmc5 to no difference. it's hooked up to my beomaster 2400 (with all lights replaced

  • Re: i'm a cd-x glutton for punishment!!!

hi jacques! the lid was off one of it's hinges and it works fine. it's just when the cd spins it sometimes sounds like it had a belt issue. i know now it doesn't have a belt. as for your checklist, i'll have to have an electronics fellow do those things for me. i'd rather pay for professional help than have two machines that are dead because of my inexperience.... but, i will be making them work!! your once bitten comment is right on track my friend!!! i love the b & o stuff

  • i'm a cd-x glutton for punishment!!!

greetings again from tulsa! call me a glutton for punishment i guess. i came across ANOTHER cd-x here locally and picked it up very reasonably priced. knowing what i do now, i placed a cd in it and of course no sound. i let it play for a period of time and viola, it was playing. now here’s the funny part. i’ll turn it on and it may play just fine, or, it may not read the cd, or it may play and it sounds like it needs a new belt to drive the mechanism. i do have the other one that sounds

  • Re: CD-X grief

wow! very cool info!! a bit daunting though when you factor in the post from martin below though! funny thing now is, i only have 4 cd's and the machine won't read two of them but reads the other two just fine. jeez, it's always something isn't it?? maybe i'm better off letting a professional work this player over??
