• Re: B&O Service - Repair Milwaukee Chicago Area

The 2 repair shops here in NYC each charge $75 for an estimate, which is deductable from the cost of the repair if you proceed. They claim that they have to 'diagnose' the problem, which takes time - hence the fee. This is one of the reasons I ship my items for repair to Atlantic Systems in MA - free estimates (not to mention cheaper cost of repair).

You can easily buy used Beocords on Craigslist & eBay for under $100 due to low demand - probably less than it would cost to repair yours. Your local B&O-authorized repair center is Path Electronics in Arlington Heights. Call them and see if they'll give you a free repair estimate.

  • Re: Beogram 7000, yes or no?

No, it definitely does, he includes photos of it and he says it comes with an MMC-4 (see the question he answered about it on the bottom). The price is absurd but he's willing to consider offers on it. It's worth at most half that much, and I'd personally prefer silver vs. white. He can keep the stand.

  • Re: Advice on restoring clear PVC parts on vintage B&O Hi-Fi.

Novus plastic polish for the covers. For the aluminum I use a strong cleaner such as diluted Mr. Clean to remove grime and dirt and Noxon very sparingly to remove stains and marks that Mr. Clean didn't remove (don't rub hard or else you'll change the finish from flat to shiny).
I guess that the speakers are very hard to come by though
I was just admiring these early 1960's vintage 'Type-S' speakers on eBay the other day. The starburst clock in the background is so era-appropriate.

  • Re: Sucker born every minute.
One of the problems with eBay since they hid everyone's identities from everyone but the seller is that it's now too easy for an associate of the seller to push the bids up. eBay could probably check for bidders repeatedly bidding on one seller's items, but would they do anything about it? I doubt it.
This information is available to anyone simply by clicking on the bidder's userid. For example, the second highest bidder (who would most likely

Both upper and lower tables are labelled 30 days activity. The just-completed auction is included. The bottom table doesn't count automatic (i.e. 'proxy') bids, which is why the bid total doesn't match what's stated on top. But I don't know why the number of items bid on doesn't match the top (77). Perhaps the bottom table isn't a complete record for confidentiality reasons(?)

  • Re: What the heck did I do to my BeoCenter 2500 doors?!
I was going to try and be clever and run the existing power link cables in series from one speaker to another, but unfortunately B&O had the absolute forethought to make the cables JUST long enough for each 2500 speaker on each side of the cabinet. So the power link cables I have are not long enough to run the speakers in series.
Place the speakers next to each other and daisy-chain them just to test your theory. You shouldn't need Mk III powerlinks

  • Re: Beoplay A8 discontinued!
BeoSound 8 is stopped not the BeoPlay A8. Maybe the dealer made a mistake between names of the Classic range and the BeoPlay line.
Of course correct. And I see the Beosound 8 on Amazon for $699, which is 30% off, not 50%. Seems to be some inaccurate information being passed along here.

  • Re: From_MOMA's catalogue.
I remember visiting MoMA in the early eighties and seeing the B&O on display.
The reality tho, is that when you visit the museum you're lucky if they have one B&O item on display. The last time I was there it was a Beomic. Maybe I'll visit this week and post a photo.
