• Re: Beovision MX8000 image too wide

Most programs are now produced in the "widescreen" format and you should expect to see a black bar on the top and bottom of your TV screen as your TV is not made for the "widescreen" format. Your STB should have the settings hidden somewhere to let you choose how the image is shown on the TV screen. If you set them both to 4:3 you will get a squashed distorted picture. You have 3 choices really, 1. Set both to 4:3 and have the squashed pictures, 2. Set the reciever to 16:9 and

  • Re: Home automation

Much of this Home Automation (HA) stuff depends on how automated you want/need to be, how “integrated” with your B&O you want it and your budget. I've been experimenting with Home Automation (HA) for the last 15 years. I started with a set of Swish electric curtain tracks bought at B&Q with an IR eye and timer control which cost me about £140 for a front bay window. (Now only available at specialist dealers and costing 8 to 10 times what B&Q used to sell the exact

  • Re: [Guide] Update Internet Explorer 6 to 7 on Beomedia 1

Hi Martin, I have installed SP3 and IE7 on my machine. I am really struggling with trying to get flash player to install / work. I have just ordered 1GB of RAM and will install it when it arrives and will try again to install flash player. Looking at the bottom of my BeoMedia I have no rubber feet, just the small screws which hold the case together. I have put clear stick on feet ( like this ), but what is normally there? Thanks for your efforts and for letting us know how to try to update! Regards

  • Re: Connecting beomedia 1 to an ir unit

Hi Mat I connected my BM1 to a BeoVision 5 which does not have the controller For BM1 so had to add a IR eye. I bought B&O IR eyes for my Wireless 1 previously and tried one of those as I had a spare, but it would not work using the wiring diagram supplied with it for the Wireless 1. It took some searching to find the correct wiring but I did get the eye working. I produced a PDF with the types of wiring I discovered via google searches. Please see the attached PDF file and you will see the wiring

  • Re: Connecting beomedia 1 to an ir unit

Hi Mat, The Wireless 1 ( look here ) was for a different project, I just happened to have a spare IR eye for that. It is not connected to the Beomedia 1. The IR eye for the Wireless 1 came with a 5pin Din plug and I had to change it to the correct one that is compatible with the Beomedia (like a headphone plug). I think B&O can supply the correct IR eye for the Beomedia, but with the diagram I attached it gives you the opportunity to buy one from somewhere like ebay. Stoobie

  • Re: Need help with beovision 3 setup.

Hi, I also tried a standard splitter but it did not work. As soon as I put in the B&O splitter it worked perfectly. Once you get the B&O pack You should have two emitters (your original one and a new one) plus your splitter. One emitter has a silver coloured plug and the other has a gold coloured plug and the splitter will have a silver socket and a gold socket. Hope that helps Stoobie

  • Re: cAN BEO4 OPERATE X10 DEVICES ?

I looked into X10 and B&O as I had a load of X10 and used it with my Phillips Pronto but wanted to use my Beo4. I moved on to Homeeasy and Lightmanager-B&O and it works a treat with both my Beo4 and Beo5 and very reliable. However, you want to know about Beo4 & X10, I very nearly bought the item Michael suggested and saved a link to it ages ago. I just went to it and it and it seems to be still available here . Lintronic might also be something to consider as that seems to do X10 Stoobie

  • Re: THE BEOWORLD MAY 2012 PRIZE DRAW
Great prize stoobietoo!
Had such a busy few days I didn't even get on line to check the prize draw. I never win anything but love to see guys win. I got the email today to say I'd won. I am so chuffed with my prize. I've looked at the book and dropped hints for last Christmas and my birthday with my partner, but he's not into shopping on the web so I never got it. So the first thing I have won in over 20 years was something I really wanted

  • Quick fix for non-working Beolink 1000

Hello all, Ages ago I posted in the old forums how to fix a Beolink 1000 that has suddenly stopped working and I thought it was worth repeating (along with a new diagram to help) You simply take out the batteries and short the + & - terminals. A piece of wire or a paper-clip will do the trick. You won't see or hear anything happen but it seems to reset something in the remote. I can't take credit for the fix as it was a chap called Frank in the Yahoo Forums/Beolist who originally suggested

  • Re: Universal (non b&o remote) to control b&o and other brands

Before getting my Beo5 I used (& still do) Philips Pronto remotes. They can all control B&O and have excellent macro functions, but you are looking at the same sort of money as a good used Beo5/6 with the same amount of programming needed for either the Beo5/6 or the Philips Pronto. Your PS3 is not fully controlable by any standard universal IR remote without a separate little converter box. (an IR remote will control many functions but you need a Bluetooth box to switch on/off and some other
