• Beogram 8002 - Success At Last!

Hi all, Im not sure if Ron from BeoRepairs (near Swansea, UK) reads this forum but he has done a great job refurbishing my old Beogram 8002. This unit has been in a box for at least 5 years after developing a problem with the track-register and drop mech (my observation). After struggling to find someone who could repair these in the UK, I found BeoRepairs and he pulled the whole thing to bits. A moment of touch and go as one of the many faults (in previous history, someone else had been doing DIY
The thread already at page 3... If you (still) want to hear my take on this, you jow can see my post - that went into moderation and was delayed - at the end of Page 1 - Oct 16 2020 12:19 PM.
We always do get your take MM. No surprise there. However, in fairness, this hobby is one which can have a wide range of views. If the OP wants to bolt-on a Core to his BL50/90s or go full fat and do something like I have done for instance, that is up to him. Opinions

  • Re: Best non-B&O Streamer for Beolabs
Why would you want a DAC? The Beolab 50/90s have one of the best/most transparent DACs in the world?
there are some good reasons why you would do that;- 1. Aries 1 had a compatibility issue early on with the BL90s rendering it unusable 2. I believe you can get better “sounds” via the DAC-ACD and in my opinion a more “analogue” sound 3. The Vega DAC I use can also act as a very good pre-amp for my record deck and the SPdif output

  • Re: Best non-B&O Streamer for Beolabs

I have quite a list of expensive boxes on the end of my BL90s Auralic G2 stack (Aries streamer, Vega DAC and the Leo clock) Melco N1 music server Melco D1 ripper you can argue merits of each and why all you want. I was drawn both the Aries and the Melco can drive DLNA across the house, with existing NL products, I wanted something that could be moved away from B&O if required and was not going to be subject to Firmware changes that could invalidate one product with another. Solid units and a

  • Re: Beosound 5 HDD replacement

Find your local P C repair shop. Ask them to recover the HDD content and clone the disk if they can. I assume you have a mechanical failure and not a software corruption failure. Should be significantly cheaper

  • Re: Beosound Balance
The Balance’s two 5.25” bass drivers are better sounding than BL17’s single 6”? Wow, I’m surprised.
I dont see that really matters. We have as single speaker units (excluding the P-Range) M3, M5, BS1, BS2, Edge, A9 - plenty. Then we have the big Beolabs:- BL90, BL50, with BL20, BL18 near to EOL I suppose in terms of tech and BL17 definitely EOL BS Balance - evolutionary dead-end or something we have not seen yet? I see a big gap

  • Re: Beosound Balance

But wouldn't it be great if they got rid of all the "social" guff in these units, put a couple of powerlink sockets (and dare say I, a SPDIF port) and call them Beolab 30? De facto heir/replacement of the BL3 and BL17 and something many of us will use, rather than dither over an ocean of single-point music sources currently in the catalogue. 10

  • Re: Pair the Beoremote One and IR eye (Join version) to control Beolab 50 speakers volume

Hi, I just checked the invoice for my IR Eye for my BL90s. There is no part type specified apart from "IR EYE for Beolab 90" and "Misc" There is no join markings and there is no depression flex in the black strip (no clip button). Essence needs to be in IR mode BR1 needs to be in IR mode (Beosound mode)

  • Re: Beo App and DNLA Server

SG, I can confirm that both my Melco N1ZH2 and an Auralic Aries G2 can pull files via DNLA into the BeoApp but they cannot be searched. There is a limited search functionality with the DNLA Files in say the BV Eclipse (but this is I think part of the LG firmware). Harmony will be the same? I have a pair of BL90s, which either source from a BV Eclipse (via Powerlink) or an Auralic G2 setup (Streamer/DAC/Clock) via XLR. Using the Beovision and the Powerlink, the tracks are pulled from the Melco and
