• Re: Beosound 5 wlan setup question

There are probably easier and cheaper ways of doing this but here goes:- Buy one of these:- AirLink 101 AWLL6075 300Mbps 802.11n Wireless LAN USB 2.0 Mini Adapter = £20 from Amazon. There are cheaper alternatives as well. Load the drivers that come with the adapter from CD onto a USB stick and place in one of the BM5 USB slots with a mouse or mouse dongle Go into BS5 maintenance mode, activate CMD/OSK (command / on-screen keyboard), Load the drivers into the BM5 using MS Explorer, remove USB

  • Re: BeoSound 5 software update without internet

The Beomaster 5 is just an XP-based PC. There should be no reason that a local Mifi-enabled (3G dongle) would not work. Place the BM5 in Maintenance mode (XP Windows front) and use the BS5 as a monitor. The only other issue is working out how you would use a dongle, USB keyboard and mouse all together. (USB expanders, combined mouse /keyboard etc). Once your 3G is up and running, leave in the background and return to B&O mode. You should be able to a) download, b) recieve radio depending on your
I see Mr10Percent has returned in the last 24 hours or so
To be honest, just a fleeting visit - like now. I can only amplify what many others have said - too much Apple, too much of a clique etc... This has been going on for a long time where the forum no longer offers me in particular the enjoyment it once did in terms of friendship, banter, exchange of views or knowledge. I am not too keen on the new forum layout either. I have subsequently moved over

  • Re: B&O car audio - updated list

I cannot tell you the list. What I can tell you is that if you are lucky enough to be able to go for an Aston Martin, don't be put of by its ICE (Stereo) configuration. The cabin noise under a properly revving V8V, V12V or the DB9 configuration makes any decent stereo system (Linn 160W, Alpine 700W or the B&O system) completely superfluous. i.e. don't get hung-up on the stereo compared to the machine itself.

  • Re: BM5 not booting up

Attach a keyboard/mouse and on boot-up, see if you can F8 or similar into the Windows boot options for recovery. Select Recovery and go. Don't have access to my BS5/BM5 at the moment but that is the general approach. Takes 20-odd minutes and then re-boots to B&O

  • Re: Disappointed with quality of Playmaker

Update:- Just loaded TuneBlade on to my PC and dropped Airfoil for a while. This uses Airplay rather than DNLA streaming. PM of course picks this up no issues. 1. Sound quality of TuneBlade is much better than that of Airfoil. 2. No crackling on heavy bass lines 3. No drop-outs - even with "Real time streaming" (5 to 350ms delay) so the +2 second delay is gone. 4. Clunky volume control - cant integrate on existing PC system controls. 5. Got to mute system volume as sound still plays from

  • Re: Disappointed with quality of Playmaker

    .
To be honest, I bought one of the first Playmakers in Australia when it was released, and I never managed to make it work in wi-fi! I gave up and used an Ethernet cable, and in less than a minute, all was working perfectly, and I've never had to change any setting since day 1. Besides, the wired option makes updates much more possible! Not to mention the absence of dropouts. I've never gone wireless on most of my devices, because it is so frustrating

  • Re: Fix BM5 or Olive one?

I had a look at upgrading my BM5 last weekend. The MB is now an obsolete Via Mini-ITX EPIA-EX which can only take 1gb of RAM. (I wanted to upgrade the RAM) I will however be looking to change the 3.5 1TB HDD (retrofitted that myself from a 512Gb unit a couple of years ago) for a 1Tb SSD. Problem with the new Via MB's is the connection board is completely different to the original. Dicided it was al too much faff.

  • Re: Beo sound essence - I'm excited!

I give this forum a miss for a year or more because of the rude people and as soon as I come back - hey presto! Thanks MM and Puncher for the comments. I'm using a Lenovo Yoga with 1tb of SSD. Drive 1 - 512GB has the OS and all other programs. I use an additional dedicated 512GB SSD with all my WMA lossless music. It mirrors my BM/BS5 when at home. Until recently I was using a Logitech Bluetooth adapter - mainly because of the limited connects on the Yoga and because I wanted to move the PC around

  • Re: Beo sound essence - I'm excited!
Hi MR 10Percent, First of all: The Essence will - just like the Playmaker - support DLNA and AirPlay. For AirPlay you will need an AirPlay compatible device (which you don't want!) to send the music to the Playmaker/Essence.... ...or something that works the same way: Airfoil - which you don't like that much (neither do I). And you don't want iTunes either. For DLNA you need (in addition to the player - Playmaker/Essence - which is in that case a renderer
