  • Re: B&O actively searching a buyer...

I would think the following 3 scenarios are most likely to happen. 1 . B&O gets bought up by an audio or luxury brand, say Harman international or LVMH, brands that are close to B&O regarding key values ( Design, Style, Luxury". This would be a best case scenario, B&O would stay almost the same, some of the most unprofitable stuff would get sold off or just discontinued, besides that it's same same. 2. Venture capitalist , they may see some value and would most likely break off

  • Re: beolab 5 sound quality not good, where is problem?

Well , I'll always found the BL5 to be lacking in the midrange department and therefore be a bit harsh/cold sounding, so it doesn't have to be a faulty pair. Regarding calibration I used to place them in the middle of the room when running the calibration to get "ok" bass output. I think the BL5 measures mostly reverberation in the room and that makes them overcompensate a bit in a more "live" sounding room. Needless to say I sold my pair after 1.5 year and never looked

  • Re: To Days The Day :-) The New Avant...What Do you Think Of It?

[quote user="KMA"] I’m about to get the new Avant, and have made a few enquiries as to Avant’s future-proofness: INPUTS: For anyone who’s confused or uncertain about the 4K capabilities of the inputs on the new Avant, as of right now, the version of all HDMI-inputs is 1.4, with HDCP 1.4. HDMI inputs 1 - 5 can already receive UHD signal up to 30 fps with the current video engine software version. There will be a software update to the video engine later this year, as has

  • Re: Beosystem 4

As some have noted there isn't any "4k" material available for home use, there isn't even an standard to begin with. There's no way of transferring "4K", HDMI 1.4 doesn't support it? Sony has a 4K projector for sale for consumers, yet no way of transferring native 4K to it? Not to mention that there hasn't been set a standard for "4k" for the home market, there it's even a resolution specified for home use over 1080p. Will it be 3840x2160 or 4096x2160

  • Re: Beolab 5 low Frequency Effects

Make sure that the player is setup to output 2 channel via Spdif and not 2.1 or 5.1. And if there is a possibility to set the speaker size make sure that they are setup as large. And make sure that the LFE (.1) channel is mixed down to the main speakers. Besides that I don't know?

  • Re: Beolab 5 problem: high frequency noise

I believe the noise issue was dealt with in a software update to the BL5, contact your dealer and make sure you have the latest firmware on the speakers.

  • Re: Beolab 5 connection to ONKYO Advice

Yes there your are correct, but I can assure you that your not going to want be in that room when your at 100%. As long as you are happy with the sound pressure and your not running out of volume on the preamp it's not a problem. In my case I usually run the preamp at 70/100 when I want to "party" that's plenty loud for me.

  • Re: Beolab 5 connection to ONKYO Advice

As I noted i can assure you that your not using them below there full potential if your running them at 90%. Considering that there is no hiss with powerlink then there most likley not running at full volume, otherwise there would be a hiss there to. Powerlink is just a preamp signal that's volume regulated the same as any preamp, difference is the power on/off trigger... I hope this makes sense

  • Re: Beolab 5 connection to ONKYO Advice

Just put them a few more click lower? my BL5 make a slight hissing sound when on top volume, nothing strange, take any amp you want and output full volume without any music and you'll most likely here a slight hissing. Im running my BL5 to a preamp and have them on maybe 90% of top volume and there dead silent and there's enough volume control to break your ears. I really dosen't matter where you make the volume adjustment as long as it's to your pleasing. Preamp running at 100 %

  • Re: BV9 or BV11?

Design wise the BV9 is the best looking TV set ever made, if you can handle the 123kg Picture wise I'm not that sure, the "older" Panasonic panels weren't that good, the black-level was usually more grey then black and contrast wasn't the best. The BV9 full HD came with 3 different panels I believe, D9,D10,D11, the biggest difference between them is black-level and contrast. When running with a pair of front speakers the "center channel" shouldn't be a problem
