Double post.

The 10 extra mV across the two emitter resistors clearly isn't the source of the overheating problem as I ruled that out by disconnecting 3P22. The heatsink was cold as long as the volume was at zero with 3P22 connected and all the time with it disconnected. Besides that, Martin wrote here that he sets the idle current to 8mV across one of the emitter resistors, so it really isn't that far off. The Beocentral page was actually linked from a blog owned by a Danish guy who also repairs old

  • BeoMaster 5500 - A hot topic!

Hi everyone. As I mentioned in another thread, one of my acquaintances has a BeoMaster 5500 and a MCP5500 that are acting up a bit, so he asked me, if I wanted to take a look at it. I told him about the usual problems with dried out electrolytic caps and bad trimmers, so we agreed that it was probably best to give it a complete overhaul. He had told me, that there was a humming sound in the speakers and that the BM would turn off by itself quite often. After he had dropped the BM and MCP off at my
Here a pic from the schematic, not polarized, didnt reflect on that just went looking for caps
I know the feeling, Søren! Nice to see another project thread with the old, more mechanical based equipment. Makes me want to restore some of my older B&O systems. I'm mostly using my 80s and 90s systems, but could be nice to restore a 60s or 70s B&O system back to it's former glory - there's enough to choose between at least

  • Re: Beomaster as support amp ?

Unless the BM6500 is equipped with a RIAA amp or you want to use it as an amp for a pair of passive speakers, I would say it's redundant. If you have a pair of active speakers, the Ouverture would probably be the better choice as it has a built-in CD and cassette player. What you need to be able to use your BG3300, is an external RIAA amp - preferably one that lets the Datalink signals pass through if you want to be able to control it with your remote or via the buttons on the Ouverture. /Dennis
Yes. The BM6500 has the integrated RIAA amplifier needed for the BeoGram.
A standard BM6500 doesn't have an integrated RIAA, so unless it has been fitted with the optional RIAA amplifier, either one of those or an external RIAA amplifier will be needed to be able to use the BG3300. @1Henrik Which system would you like to use as your main source? Was your intention only to use the BM6500 as a preamplifier for the BG3300 with the Ouverture as main source

  • Re: Can the lid of a Beogram 7000 be straight again ?

I seem to remember that someone on BeoWorld once suggested, that one could attach a piece of metal going from side to side to the underside of the lid. It could probably to the trick, but I'm not so keen on that idea... I have tried to heat the lid of my BG6500 up with a hair dryer and bend it back in shape, but it didn't do the trick. A heat gun may have helped a bit, but I was afraid to melt the lid. I'd rather have a sagged lid than a broken lid! I had unmounted the lid btw. Then I

  • Re: Your latest addi(c)tion?

Today I picked up two packages that should contain some items I bought Friday last week. Let's start with the one on the right with a Beo4 for size comparison. Hmm... what can it be... A Beo4 with navigation button! Been wanting one of these for quite a few months now to use in the living room. The main system consists of a BeoCenter 2300, a pair of Penta MK3s, a 50" Sony Bravia and a Lintronic box. It's difficult to get the old Beo4 working properly with the Sony as I had to use the
