  • New BV7-40

Last January i.e.in the old forum, I asked what, if any, possible TV improvements could be arriving in the future, as I was considering buying a new 7-40 There very many very helpful replies, and I would like to thank all those who gave their opinions. My original question was based on my assumption that my existing BV7-40 was a Mk II. Apparently it is a Mk I, so a low trade-in was anticipated. So,when we visited our local B&O dealer the latest screen showed just how much we had been missing

  • BV7 40 FreeView update

My wife has just given me a slightly early 80th birthday present consisting of a new BV7-40 3D flanked by two 8002 speakers. It's a spendid steup. Now in this part of the UK there has been the final step for Freeview terrestrial tv. Unfortunately, I have been unable to activate the retune/reinstall process using a Beo 4 remote. In fact, I have tried to reinstall using two different Beo 4 remotes, but in each case the start command on the lower right of the screen refused to activate. My dealer

  • Using the Ouverure CD stand for a BeoSound 4

At present we have an Ouverture which, bought in 1995, uses the CD Ouverture stand. I am hoping to change the Ouverture for a new BeoSound 4, but my wife wants to retain the existing stand, which she finds very useful for storing CDs, as well as being aesthetically pleasing. The problem is that the BeoSound 4 does not fit easily on top of the CD stand. Furthermore the dealer is reluctant to agree to fit this as there is a possibility that the unit could overbalance unless securely fixed to the stand

  • Smart TV

Please accept my apologises if this topic has already been covered but I do not recall if it has. My BV7-40 Mk 6 with blu-ray (see Flash your B&O page 7) needs to be converted to a "Smart" tv. Apparently it requires an Apple TV which can be attached to the back of the BV7, but it seems that there are more that one type of Apple TV. For example, when checking on Amazon (UK), one model is suitable for the USA which another is ok in Hong Kong. As I am in the UK these particular models

  • Re: Closing of B&O shops - reasons

Just a brief note about the B&O dealer in Colchester, UK. According to their letter heading they are a B&O franchise owned and operated under a franchise agreement by Intelligent AV Solutions Ltd. I have bought TVs, speakers etc. from them. They are invariably helpful and courteous, and always seem ready just to have a chat about B&O. One factor that I have found useful when hearing/ reading about opinions which may differ from mine, is to remember the old adage that it is not what you

  • Re: BEOVISION ECLIPSE

while there seems to be a general consensus about the good sound quality on the Eclipse, I’m concerned about how quickly B&O will be receiving upgraded panels whenLG introduce-these. For example, Home Cinema Choice recently reported on the LG Signature G7 and B&O’s Eclipse. The LG panel apparently experienced “motion picture handling is average and the TruMotionprocessing is a heavy-handed solution to motion judder and loss of moving detail. Both theClear and Smooth options

  • Upgrading to Beosound 4

It seems time to retire my Overture (nearly 20 years old) to Beosound 4. , which will enable me to put all my CDs onto this and then stream these around the house. Before dong this I do hope that someone would be able to help with two questions. 1) are there any differences between B 4s assuming they all have DAB and 2) I believe that there is a non-B&O stand which has all the wires going up the centre of the stand. Are these still available? I know that all this is very low tech but being a

  • Re: BEOVISION ECLIPSE

I have spoken to two dealers in the UK. Both state that B&O are of the opinion that the latest C8/E8 panels from LG to offer a significant improvement. This opinion does not seem to be shared by some of TV's technical press. It is stated that LG's Alpha 9 processor does improve such areas as nearly eliminating vertical banding, and there are improvements when playing 4K Blu-ray discs. There are also interesting bug fixes. The contrast range is also adjudged to be a noticeable improvement

  • Re: BEOVISION ECLIPSE

In the latest Home Cinema Choice there is a long-term test of the LG OLED65E7. Some of the problems noticed with this panel could be addressed when LG's new Alpha 9 video processor and their 2018 E8 series is introduced. Does anyone know if or when these latest panels will be available in the Eclipse? Villarsch (B&O enthusiast since the 1960s)

  • Store closure in Colchester

My apologises if this topic has been covered previously, but today I went to Colchester (Britain's oldest recorded town) to visit the B & O store, from which I have purchased much equipment over the past 18 years, including BeoSound 2 and Beosound Core last December To my astonishment the shop was completely closed, with heavy shutters over the windows and a brief notice to the effect that it would be closed until further notice. Does anyone know any details about this closure, and if or
