  • Re: BC 9500 RL60.2 BEOVOX PENTAS setup

Hi think the BM5000 uses a different remote control, the 5500 would work with a BL1000 though. but you would have a problem if they are in the same room and would have set it so that it works as a Link amplifier - i.e Link and then the command - I think!

  • Re: Beovision avant/beosound ouverture combo How to keep in dolby mode?

I don't think you can - I have a similar setup and the Avant will switch to two speakers for stereo when the sound source is selected, so you have to manually switch to speakers 3, I wanted the default to be 4 speakers for some sources but could find no way of changing it. I believe later beovisions do allow you to select default speaker configurations.

  • Media Server

Hi I have seen a Western Digital 2TB Disk that says it can work as a Media Server - at the moment all my CDs are on iTunes and I want to be able to store all my DVDs onto a hard drive - is this possible -has anyone else done it and which Media Server did you buy? The intention is that the Avant controls Apple TV and that the DVD connection will be used by a DVD player than is DLNA compliant(?) and so this will stream DVDs and LoveFilm. I'm a bit new to this so ineterested if the picture quality

  • Re: DVD1 without Beovision?

Possibly - Pin 8 and Ground are used to transmit the signals out of a beovision so presumably they are used to receive - the -238 is a converter though so I would imagine you would have to configure it to send and receive b&o commands - or would an ir eye at the right frequency connected to Pin8 and Ground do the same thing? You may be able to configure a -238 to receive philips or some other remote control commands and then convert them into B&O DVD conmmands and transmit these directly

  • Beocentre 4600

Hi there I've just bought one of these on ebay and it's in great condition after a bit of cleaning - there are only a couple of problems that I need some advice on When playing a record, at the end the arm does not raise so it skaes across the record to home and then is raised when next played - does this just need lubricating with sewing machine oil, or is there an adjustment - can it be done without taking everything apart? Also the platter seems to be slightly raised at the front - in

  • Re: Beocentre 4600

Hi there Many thanks for the suggestions, I shall have a go this weekend once I have some switch cleaner and also some light oil. It's reassuring that it's nothing mechanical and only a matter of maintenance - the machine itself is built like a tank. Thanks again for your support and suggestions.

Tried holding down play/paise and stop but that didnt work. Does it automatically power off like the sky box or do i have to do it manuallyneverytime?

  • Re: Crazy Rl 140 Idea!!!

I've not done that, but, a thought is there are loads of old avants out there being sold for next to nothing because the screens have gone - but the power amps might be able to be reused and built in? - perhaps find one and use the amps? I suppose though the Beolabs amplifiers are designed specifically for the drivers, cabinets and cross overs they are built into, Beovox thoguht will give you a much wider choice of power amp

  • Re: Coffee

I bought a Magimix Nesspresso from a car boot sale for £5 - absolutely brilliant coffe - Roma is good and I am working my way through the range - even the decafs come out fine - quick and easy and tastes superb - I understand Heston also has one in his restaurant! I did have a siemens coffee maker but the nesspresso beats it hands down - would love to get into more esoteric machines but would probably buy another nesspresso when this one breaks - best £5 I've ever spent
