• Re: B&O Play TV coming this quarter

Thanks for the video link, much appreciated. I'll not comment on what I think of the set itself, but having to crouch down on the floor to demonstrate it, looks ridiculous. Also, who on earth would position it in such a way in their lounge so that viewing it from a chair would require looking downwards all the time? Silly!

Come on now, if you'd seen a picture of this TV by any of the other manufacturers, most of you would be criticising its mediocre/boring looks. As it's B&O though you're pleased with it. Be honest - it's boring and very, very average in looks.
I like that it doesn't have a touchscreen. I'm sick of touch. Too much to clean all the time. I love the side wheel.
For you Michael that might be the case, but the 'problem' is, most consumers, rightly or wrongly, expect (demand?) such displays to be touch. For example, imagine any company launching a tablet with a wheel on the side and no touch screen, they'd be ridiculed. The Encore is a beautiful piece of engineering, but I think the
Loewe is not available in the US, Canada or probably the whole Western Hemisphere.
Rather a sweeping statement Bill. It's pretty well known in Western Europe. Or this a case of "We don't know it in the US so that probably goes for the the rest of the Western world"?

Having followed this thread (and the others!) discussing this product, I'm still somewhat confused as to whom it it aimed. If, as part of the new 'Play' range, it's purpose is to attract buyers who have traditionally not been B&O's customers and will have no other B&O equipment then I have to question whether these consumers will be willing to spend some 2500 Euros for a 40" television when the market is flooded with well built (admittedly not to B&O standards
I then stream them via Apple tv to my current Beovision 7, Beolab 8000,6000 setup. Mute the screen and hey presto.
Out of interest Chris, from what device do you stream your audio to the Beovision - your computer?
5 hmdi's sounds amazing , but who actually needs that many , 3 seem more than enough imo ? Sky HD - 1 Apple Tv - 2 Mac Mini - 3 What on earth else would you add ? I wouldn't plug a ps3 or 360 into a lovely b&o tv anyway.
A/V amplifier/receiver, soundbar, DVD player ? I'm not saying you'd necessarily want all of them, but the sockets are there if you do.
nothing can beat a plasma
That's the perceived wisdom I agree, but only this week I was viewing some sets side by side at a dealer's. It was a Spanish soap I think that was being shown, and the Panasonic images were markedly more 'soft' than the adjacent Samsung and Philips displays. More importantly though I think, there were some interior scenes where sunlight was shining into the house and falling on the heads and shoulders of the actors
Official launch date for the V1 is 2 May and B&O will be promoting from the end of this month, to try and seduce people planning on upgrading their TV in time for the Olympics and Euro 2012, this summer.
At last, potentially some effective marketing and promotion from B&O. I only hope this is not just wishful thinking. Thanks moxxey!

  • Re: iPad or Tablet as BeoVision 7?

Looks great I think, but if I'm being a bit picky, it's a shame the small support 'hooks' at the base of the iPad weren't as visible, therefore giving the iPad a more 'floating' look. Don't know how the thing would be supported though!
