  • Re: BeoPlay A9

From your picture it doesn't look overly imposing at all. I am completely fascinated by the A9. I can't wait for more reviews to start coming in. I have a geneva sound model L already and was thinking of upgrading to either the XL model or the A9 for my secondary system.

  • Re: Mac firewire out to Lab 5s

Typically you have to set the audio output of the Mac in audio midi setup. You find this under the utilities folder. There should then be an option for output via FireWire.

  • Re: Anyone using MOG or Spotify?

I use MOG streamed through various sonos units around my house. One sonos plays through lab 5s. Sound is very good, I doubt I could tell a difference between MOG and apple lossless I have on NAS. Selection is great for some genres, good for others

Picky, picky people on here. I think it looks awesome, but then again I have a Geneva sound L which I love as well. I think I'm going to sell the Geneva and pick up one of these when they're available. I've seen white and red so far, would love to see the other colors

  • Re: Room acoustics

Bsantini I don't know what to tell you, but I had the exact problems the OP has and the ARC system corrected the problem. I also have hardwood floors and a lot of bare surfaces I was also going to lay rugs, acoustic treatments, etc. This is often total guesswork and results in worse sound and compromised decor. The ARC system corrected the "slap echo" and brightness of the room. Now I don't have to deal with those issues.

  • Re: Room acoustics

I had the same problem when I moved into a new house with my lab5 and 3s. I acquired this http://www.anthemav.com/products/anthem-statement/processor processor with room correction and not only did it fix the problem, my system has never sounded better Instead of trying to fix the room physically, where sacrifices have to be made with decor and furniture, I would look into electronic room correction with a processor/receiver that has audyssey or ARC or something similar.

  • Re: beolab 5 and Sonos

The cool thing with the BL5 is they have a digital coaxial input. Now it's possible to run a direct digital connection from the sonos to the BL5 and bypass the DAC in sonos and use the far superior DAC in the 5s. You will need the beo remote to turn on the speakers, however. You will also need to change the option settings on the speakers, I forget the exact number but it's in the guide. I had this setup for a while and it sounds great. Good luck

  • Re: Disappointed With Music On B&O System

Your equipment is fine. The 8000s are great speakers. In my experience, when good equipment does not sound good, it's usually the acoustics of the room at play. I have a system with BL5 and BL 3 as rears. In my new house I absolutely hated the sound, way too bright. It was only after using my receivers room correction system that fixed the problem. Now I can't get enough music from that system. I would look at altering the room's acoustics with either physical changes or equalization
