• Re: How much investment is wasted on front left, right channels as center...
I am truly puzzled. I always thought that a subwoofer was goodness. Sure things change and get smarter. And yes the BeoLab 2 is now 17 years. Here is the BL2’s specs from the BeoWorld product section .....
Some interesting feedback from my colleague who bought a H9i after having Bose Quiet Comfort “Michael they are inferior in every single way to the Bose” and “I can get 2 sets of the Bose just about for the price of the B&O”. I I was talking up the B&O to colleague for ages. I felt sorry for him. He was also saying the Bluetooth cuts out. With the Bose he can walk around his whole apartment. With B&O can’t even go to

  • Re: New / Update H8i and H9i

This reminds me a little of a comment, decades ago when I bought my first serious HiFi, which included a pair of B&W DM2a's - then second from the top of the line B&W DM70's in their range. A friend who visited, ended up not liking them as 'they had no bass'. But he was used to a very boomy and coloured sound, so when he heard a more accurate and authentic sound, he did not like them. Some people love BMW's because of the involving driving dynamics. A friend, who is a

  • Re: SACD playback from bluray player on a BV - question?

Mr MM, I understand. I've checked with the user manual on the Sony before, and it seems to convert the DSD to PCM at playable output via HDMI on my Beosystem 4 driven set. I suppose the proof in the pudding will be in the eating - I'll let you know how it goes. Manual here: http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/4588106111.pdf pp. 29
I could not wait for that answer... ....and did have to eat the pudding myself. I ordered a

  • Re: SACD playback from bluray player on a BV - question?

i agree with all the comments about SACD. As to its sound v's CD though, I have a small collection of Hybrid SACD's that I originally played through my Sony DVP NS9100ES SACD player via iLink (Firewire 400) to my Sony TADA 9000ES S Master pro digital amp, - which was really a rebadged Tact Millennium in it's modus operandi, - and to my Naim SBL speakers at the time. Because the amp was 'pure digital' i.e. the output sine wave to switch the output transistors was generated from
I know this has been up before - e.g. here: https://forum.beoworld.org/forums/t/10944.aspx?PageIndex=1 But that was almost 4 years ago. Any current knowledge on SACD playback on the BV’s? The question: is playback of (multi channel) SACD on a BeoVision/ HDMI possible from any of the current Bluray players, that you know of....when you count out the OPPO’s? I did not have any luck with my recent experiment (the Pioneer BDP-180)! The Oppo (203) seems

  • Re: What new things from B&O/Play 2018?

A true replacement for the V1-40 is sorely needed. The 48" Horizon is literally three times the price, and is most definitely not three times the better TV. And for a 4k TV it doesn't feature HD10 or Dolby Vision - both glaring omissions for a 'state of the art' 4k TV. For what the V1-40 cost, it featured outstanding design and materials and with a feature set that made it remarkable VFM. And as such, complete with active centre speaker array, a state of the art SS module onboard

  • Re: Will HomePod 'kill' BeoPlay?

For those of an audiophile bent, it would appear the HomePod is a technical tour de force and has superb measurements... On top of being fully active with 8 speakers and 8 amplifiers, the 'treble' speakers are actually BMR radiators - state of the art stuff really. An very interesting review here: https://www.reddit.com/r/audiophile/comments/7wwtqy/apple_homepod_the_audiophile_perspective/ Cheers John.
Kennedy (E.G.I. Investments) is the Master Dealer for Australia & New Zealand, like Andrew Donaldson and the Smorgan family were. Premium Sound in St Kilda is a Victorian franchise, Audiohub in Perth is a W.A. franchise.
I am reliably informed that Premium Sound in St. Kilda is the Bose shop that used to be Denman HiFi and that B&O are being sold alongside Bose, with the salespeople having little real knowledge of B&O products. Certainly whilst

  • Re: New / Update H8i and H9i

Thanks so much for taking the time and effort to share some lovely pics and your impressions of these lovely headphones. I'm most certainly interested in them, as I think for a stylish, very well featured and lovely sounding headphone for travel purposes they would sit at or near the top of any B&O owners or even audiophiles list. As you also own a pair of H6's I was wondering if you are able to comment on the different sonic signatures between the H6 & H9? Many thanks again.. :-
