• Nielsen service rates 3D TV use in US

The US TV rating service has just announced that the usage of 3D televisions in the US is too small to measure. Many of the cable and Satellitte channels just reciently launched this year are now cutting back due to a lack of programming. Less than 115,000 viewers are watching at any one time. That is less than 1% of the people in the US that watch NCIS each week. The viewership is so small they cannot get any data about viewers preferences. The other problem is that most TV consumers do not the

  • B&O stock price down?

It seems the value of B&O stock has lost all it gained in the past week. The share price is down 10% since the Beoplay A9 and Beovision 11 have been introduced. The stock shot up before their launch but has now dropped back. Is this just speculation prior to new product intros or a representation of what institutional shareholders think about these two products?

  • Re: How rare is a beogram 4000

You will not find any Beogram 4000's in North American except those imported from europe. That model had a very short life in Europe and was quickly changed to the 4002. The main change was the control keypad which was to delicate and broke easily. The Beocord 5000 and the Beomaster 6000 4 channel used this new style keypad. The 4002 was the first model sold in the US and Canada. It sold like crazy and there was always a back order to dealers. So in North America the Beogram 4000 is very rare

  • Re: Beosystem 1 Beomedia1

You need to connect a mini jack stereo cable from the Beosystem 1 V Aux control output jack to the input on the Beomedia marked IR next to the Masterlink plug. You then set the external source of V Aux to Beomedia in the external sources menu of the Beosystem 1 for it to operate from the B&O remote thru the Beosystem 1. If Beomedia is not a source choice you may need to have the software updated in your Beosystem 1.

  • Re: Share price drop?

The report from Handelsbanken to their clients regarding B and O makes for interesting reading and perhaps goes someway to explaining the dramatic fall in the share price
Although that covers pretty much everything we already know, it does emphasise that B&O would be wise getting out the TV business and concentrating on it's audio core (which is something I don't want to happen, personally). BTW can anyone

  • Re: Share price drop?
Tue Mantoni should be kept on, so far what he has indicated B&O will do seems right, and is what Handelsbanken and others are also calling for: return to the core legacy business/reinvent. (As if that is easy with their entrenched mindset).
Most of us have forgotten that Kalle Hvidt Nielsen was the CEO between Torben and Tue. Kalle pushed for new less expensive Video products like BV 10 and was the one who decided on the new Video engine platform.
Strangely, I was in my local dealer for the first time in 3 months yesterday and their walls have a number of prints for sale. One wall has three on them where a product used to be on display. Perhaps they've decided prints are more profitable than product? :)
B&O prints or Art Prints?

  • "Frustration grows internally at B&O"

This article in the current issue of Berlingske Business contains comments from the union shop steward about the internal mood of employees in Struer. The stock market has also punished the stock with a 10% decline this week. "He came with towering ambitions and promises of a new golden age. He brought visionary, pioneering spirit and a shot youthful energy to the national icon Bang & Olufsen. It is now just over two years ago that the then 36-year-old Tue Mantoni was CEO and told him that

  • Re: Manufacturing lifespan of Bang & Olufsen products

The longer a product is manufactured the more profitable it is for the company. These products are often referred to as cash cows because instead of milk they generate cash. The development cost are paid off because the number of units produced exceeds the plan. One of the largest cash cows in Bang & Olufsens history was the Beomaster 1900/2400 and all it's variations up to the 4500. The Beosystem 5000 and Beolab/Vox Pentas were. The Beolab 3000/5000 wall speakers were not money makers I
