• Re: Beoplay A8

Hi Benoit, It seems to be a typo : they repeat Bluetooth on 2 lines... And it carries the AirPlay logo (on the right of the spec sheet). So yes, it's AirPlay AND Bluetooth. Which means that we can use it with anything, even out of reach of a wifi network.

  • Re: beosound 5 encore, NAS and switch

I'm still trying to configure my Synology NAS : I think I've managed to display the song title only, and not the song title + file extension (the Encore is still analysing the library, so I will confirm that later). The "title only" parameter to display the music was already chosen, but I also ticked "Show video's title using embedded information", and that (strangely, because we're not talking of videos here) seem to do the trick. For the cover art issue, I think
It is one of the only "dock" that allows you to place the iPad in portrait mode on a table and watch a movie...
May I reformulate? it is the only iPad dock that allows weird people to do things totally stupid like watching a movie on an iPad IN PORTRAIT MODE!!!

  • Re: BS5e; sort of NOT "stand alone"

I've seen somewhere here that people were connecting the power link out of the Encore to one power link out (front) of a bv. As long as both systems are not ON at the same time, it's said to work (bs5e controlling beolabs on/off and volume in speaker 2). Hope the BeoNet converter comes soon to avoid that kind of tricks.

I'm currently discovering the Synology philosophy... But you're telling me that you have to access the system files to change that, there is no user interface in DSM4.0 (and even in the Twonky setup)??? That's quite strange... If you explain me what to do, I will try...
Exactly. Where can I order?
As it's an "invisible" device that you can hide anywhere, it doesn't have to have a B&O logo on it : that's called a Sonos ZP90, and it works flawlessly with any pair of Beolabs. It is superior to the BS5E for some functionnalities like it can be used as a wake-up clock (something that I really would like to have on the Encore), or you can play 2 devices synchornised in multiroom (I'm sure it's scheduled

  • Re: beosound 5 encore, NAS and switch

Studio Master songs of a quality superior to what is supported by the Encore (24/96 max) doesn't makes any problem with MOTS. One of the solution could be to buy music instead of stealing it, I've got no problem with Qobuz-downloaded tracks Now I have a big question for you Erandlux : I just installed the DS412+ for a test ride. I installed the multimedia package, and at first, there was no cover displayed on the Encore. Then went in the settings to tick the box "use this kind of files

If you want to go for touch screen, just buy an iPad and a Sonos, connected to your NAS. It will do everything, you just have lower quality DAC, no 24-bit playback, and no MOTS. You either love it or hate it, but yes, giving a bit of "real mechanical touch" to my digital music is something I like. And that's great that my Encore is always free of finger grease ;-) The screen in a Porsche is not a touch screen : do you want to buy a VW with a touch screen instead? I don't see why

  • Re: beosound 5 encore, NAS and switch

My observations tells me that the BS5E seems to load the whole file quickly before starting reading it. More than a buffer... For radio, there is a buffer (which can be modified using the settings menu). I've also seen that the BS5E network is currently working only at 100Mbit/s protocol (vastly sufficient for music listening)

No, the MOTS calculations are totally silent, without any error log accessible (as far as I know...) I will soon upgrade from my LaCie 2big Network 2 NAS to a Synology DS412+... Happy to ear that there is no problem with this config. (the LaCie has a poor Twonky implementation : the index of songs is frequently corrupted after an hibernation)
