• Re: Beocord 5000

At the risk of a moderator’s ire for nonB&O chatter...... And an apology for a thread-jack...... Been following John’s posts for years and only now find out he’s got a Dragon?!?! And he’s the original owner? What other “Grail” pieces do other’s have lying about?

Sounds a lot like my experience with the BC5000 I tried to repair, except the part where I break a PCB while trying to attach the counter belt. If I recall correctly, I just boxed mine up and sent it to McAllen, Texas.

The 8004? Really? I have one that was serviced by Benny Amina and I am just not a fan. I prefer and really like my 1900 and 2400, but my favorite deck is the 4500. It is just a fantastic 2 head deck. For playback it’s right up there with my 3 head Yamaha K1020 and Nakamichi BX300. After moving house my current dining room (main) system consists of the BC4500, CDX, BG4002, BM4000, and S45-2s. Love this system.

  • Re: Rx2 vs Rega Planar 3, Possible Rx2 Upgrades Available?

I am not going to compare the RX2 to the tables you mention as I have no experience with them. What I will tell you is that I have owned one since 1992 (I now own and use 2 of them) and it has never needed service except new cartridges. I own and use 4 other tables (because I can), but I would have been happy just with the RX2 and a new cartridge every ten years. The fault you describe is fixed with a flat head screw driver in literally 2 minutes. Get your table back before they break it or lie to

  • Beosystem 5000 with Infinity Kappa

I would read your M70 thread. Welcome to the M70 club. To all the other M70 owners out there, I still have 2 spare woofers. Edit: to be clear - not for sale. For free to save an otherwise dead pair.
-the foam on the woofers of both speakers has perished Basically, I'm after any/all advice that you can provide: -does what I've described sound like it's repairable? -do those prices sound reasonable? Or am I looking at considerably more to get it all fixed? -are there any other places you'd recommend?
I had a pro in the States repair my BM1900 and it ran $300. I think it was money well spent as I love the results and am confident it will run

Where are you located? If you are in the States, I would be happy to try to fix your stuck woofer.

  • Re: M70 speaker distortion

No! Is it the smaller cone, or the larger dome? The smaller cone is the phase link, and the larger dome is the midrange. If it's the phase link, the magnet is beginning to slip. You'll need to epoxy the magnet. Well documented problem.
