  • Re: Beolab 8000 Twitter

I believe the multiple component change refers to upgrading the tweeter protection circuit. The original wasn't very effective (hence many Beolab 8000s with burned tweeters) and was modified once or twice over the years. The other adjustment is compensating for the measured values of that particular tweeter, to make the overall frequency response as flat as possible. If you don't care about that and do not plan on using excessive tweeter-threatening playing volumes, you can just swap it over

  • Re: Beomaster 6500 slight overhaul

Unfortunately I cannot help much with tuner problems. Major repairs to it would need test equipment even I don't have. I can only suggest that you redo any dubious looking solder points, and perhaps clean the connector socket/plug on the tuner board that receives the aerial cable from the rear panel. Mine was black inside. Also check that the wiring looms are all connected with no loose wires.

  • Re: How to screw in datalink pins?

It needs only one of the pins - which one, that depends on whether the Beogram is a model with builtin RIAA preamplifier, or not. Glad you got it working!

  • Re: Beomaster 6500 Noisy transformer/power supply capacitors

For some reason, that capacitor apparently is not listed in the service manual. I had to go back to Beomaster 5000 to find it. In BM5000, the cap in the same position is listed as 1000 uF / 63V. Seems plausible looking at the physical size of the old cap.

  • Re: MX4000 TV shuts off after a few seconds

Don't read too much into the error codes. They may have been useful when the sets were relatively new, but aging can cause error codes that are completely unrelated to the actual problem. The error code most likely won't help at all in telling you what to replace. Searching the forum you will find many threads about repairing these sets (MX6000 / MX7000 is the same chassis) and it will almost always be either bad solders, bad capacitors, or both, if the set turns on at least briefly. • Re: Capacitor for Beomaster 1000

Two of the original capacitor’s legs are just connected together. The circuit board may take advantage of this, in which case you will need to add a jumper wire if you replace it with a two legged cap. As for values, I’m sure a much more common 3300 uF will do.

  • Re: Beogram 6500 master control panel reset using a beo 4 controller?

Once the Beomaster has acknowledged the setting update just as you saw, the configuration is OK and things should just work. If it still doesn't, it could be a problem either in the MCP or the Beomaster. I believe it is safe to say that all BM6500s will be ripe for capacitor overhaul by now, and the MCPs can fail similarly as well.

  • Re: Why sideways photos?

If you all are done fighting, I'll try to explain the reason. iPads and iPhones don't rotate the pictures they save to the "correct" orientation, they just add an EXIF header which explains the correct orientation for displaying the image. Other phones and most cameras (or their download software) actually rotate the image. Many systems just display the image and don't care about the EXIF info on orientation. So there's a good chance that a photo will be shown sideways
