• Re: Connect non B&O CD player to my Beomaster 6500
I thought it was because the 6500 amp didn't detect a B&O datalink compatible CD Player
There are no such smarts in the 6500. Perhaps the CD button in your remote is just not working? With the Beomaster 6500, you can use any of the inputs for a line level signal such as a CD player. Try Tape1 for example.

  • Re: Beolab 8000 models

All right, I found the leaflet. These serial numbers don't necessarily correspond to the "marks", but rather to the different designs in the crossover and particularly the tweeter protection network. Anyway, something is different between the following serial number ranges: - 10145230 10145230 - 14282364 14282364 - 16992475 16992475 - The author of the document even included a time line, but still didn't manage to be unambiguous with the "lower than / between / higher than"
I think they all had DIN connectors originally and someone modified it . The European hi-fi public at large are quite used to DIN!
...unfortunately mostly phased out with the demise of all-European Hi-Fi manufacturers. RCAs actually aren't too good for audio signals - the fundamental flaw is that the signal wire usually makes contact before the ground does, calling for speaker destroying hums, buzzes and bangs when cables are connected while powered
Is there a chart somewhere on which s/n's go with which years and models?
There are plenty of charts & lists, all different... This I think is the most accurate serial number to year of manufacture correlation (covers most products). As I recall, the Beolab 8000 models were specified down to a single serial number in the instruction leaflet that came with my spare tweeters and upgrade parts, and I have that paper in that famous place called Somewhere.
I have often wondered what has happened to all those original wall brackets... I guess all the speakers was originally sold with brackets -but I've seen so many used sets sold without brackets...Why can't these sellers just take the brackets off the wall and sell them with the speakers
I have been wondering about the same thing. Apparently the brackets are really good for hanging up paintings, overcoats, etc

With no click, the speaker apparently really is staying on all the time. I guess there's still a chance that this could be a cabling problem... If you disconnect both Powerlink cables from the problematic speaker, does it stay in standby even when the switch is at "video"?

  • Re: [Guide] Update Internet Explorer 6 to 7 on Beomedia 1

IE6 is currently a dead browser that had many quirks and problems specific only to it. Many developers are abandoning it, because supporting it creates a lot of extra work. As time goes by, you'll encounter more and more web sites that appear with a broken layout or where essential features won't work with IE6. Version 7 on the other hand is modern enough to serve for years to come. Well done Martin
Would it be possible to connect one of those boxes to two Datalink-buses? E.g. two scarts? I guess it wouldn't be good to connect them together, but with diodes or something? (This is really not my field)
Not directly, but there's nothing preventing the same processor from listening/writing on more than one bus. For example in these shoe box Beomasters, the processor is handling four control buses - tape1 / CD, tape2 / phono, MCL2 / AVL / speakers, and
