• Re: Beloit 600 external power supply connection

All my colouradios are mains powered so they don't have a DC socket, but I have a Beolit 1000 and I didn't find anything special in the connector(*. Any "multi" power supply with a selection of plugs will probaby include a working option. The polarity is indeed - in the inside, + in the sleeve (opposite to almost all modern day kit). The radio circuitry is positive ground. If you get one of the power supplies with multiple invertible plugs, fix the one you need permanently to the

  • Re: Beovox Cona

No problem at all getting it to work - you’ll just need the proper cabling - but I doubt a Cona would add much to it in practice. It was designed to augment the CX50/CX100 which do not produce that much bass by themselves.

  • Re: How to connect motorised stand to MX4200?

Reading this whole thread again, the information is still a bit ambiguous. So, just to recap: MX4002 is basically an MX4000 with Masterlink interface. They share the same 4-pin stand interface as earlier models (up to MX7000 in the bigger form factor). MX4200 and MX8000 are internally very different from earlier models. They both use the later (and incompatible) 5-pin stand interface.

Yes. I believe MX8000 uses the same stand interface as MX4200. But this is all from vague memory, I've never had any of these last model CRTs myself.

As far as I know you can't. The interface is different electrically as well.

  • Re: For B&O veterans: Beovision MX 2000 year?

And I have an MX2000 still in use in the sauna cabin Got it for peanuts years ago and repaired a few bad solders. The sensible thing to do would be to take it to the tip, but the picture & sound are still beautiful! It's not too bright anymore, but frankly I find the colour reproduction nicer and picture sharper than my MX4000 and -2.
I think the chances of being a winner are just under 15% over the course of a year if there are 250 gold members.
I think this was one of most entertaining threads on the previous forum: http://archivedforum.beoworld.org/forums/t/27357.aspx Needs updating for the current initial data, but the theory hasn't been changed since then.
Edit2: Interesting discussion of this exact issue is at: http://archivedforum.beoworld.org/forums/t/20750.aspx
Wow, it's been more than 9 years... I didn't remember that thread at all! Since we probably have a lot of new members since then, it's worth noting that Dave Moulton (who sadly doesn't seem to visit us any more) is the guy behind the acousting lens principle and was heavily involved in the development of the BL5 - he should know

  • Re: penta's or 5k's?

Pentas will definitely sound better. Despite that, my Pentas (-vox) are in storage while my BL5000s are on the living room wall and in daily use. Pentalabs are much more likely to need repairs, and both of these speakers will most likely be useless as investment objects. A pair of BL5000s might sell faster, but a couple of scratches and dents will ruin that. Unless you plan to play very loud on a regular basis, I’d say you can decide on the looks. Forget passive Pentas if you are going to use
