• Re: BeoPlay S3 - center channel?
I have a 4.1 setup with BL 800s in front, BL 6000 surrounds, and 3rd party sub and recently-purchased Yamaha A/V receiver. The BLs are connected to the Yamaha using the preamp out jacks via RCA plugs. I’d like to add a center speaker. If that center speaker is B&O, all the better.
My thanks to all who commented. And particular thanks to Steve, who suggested the Beolab 4000 as a center channel solution. I found a decently-priced pair of 4000s

  • Re: Beolab 4000 Table Stand Alternative‚Ķ

Audioengine sells a pair of desktop speaker stands, designed to isolate and tilt speakers up a bit, for $30 US. As I look at the pictures, they seem a bit narrow for the width of a BL4000. Possibly having two stands per speaker might be more stable. FWIW.

  • Re: Beomaster 8000 Complete System w/ MS 150

Just gorgeous. My ideal system from the time. I got somewhat close to it, back in the day -- a Beomaster 6000, a Beocord 8000, and a Beogram 3404 (iirc). And a rosewood table, though not that exact model. I miss the B&O of those years. Enjoy your beautiful system.

  • Beoplay S3 or Beolab 4000?

I'm looking for a pair of computer speakers, and have narrowed the choice to a stereo pair of S3, or BL 4000s. If it seems like a ridiculous comparison, the prices for both speakers (new S3s, used BL 4000) have fallen to ridiculous levels, so the comparison is a little more valid. Has anyone heard both speakers, and have any thoughts or comments? Which would you buy, and why?

  • Re: BeoPlay S3 - center channel?

Thank you both for your replies. Update: I grabbed one of my S3s and tried it with my receiver. I had to create a Frankenstein’s monster cable to go from the S3’s skinny 3.5mm jack to the RCA jack on the receiver. I then ran the Yamaha's auto setup / YPAO; the receiver didn’t recognize the speaker :-\. I then configured the center speaker manually. Puncher: after that the S3 fired up, but the volume level was much lower than the other speakers. I used the receiver’s controls

I understand that B&O released the 7-series center channel speakers years back, when I had my eye off the brand. Unfortunately, I also understand the are no longer available from B&O (there is the used

  • Re: Non B&O Replacements For Beolab center speaker

I'm looking at a similar issue right now, so thanks for your post. I have a 4.1 surround setup, and need to add a center channel so I can hear the dialog at normal listening levels. I with I wish I could add to your list, but it's apparently slim pickings to find an active mono center channel speaker, from any manufacturer. Can you tell me a bit about ' the 12V trigger cable/powerlink cable' that you referenced with your BL7-2? Why is this needed? I have BL 8000s and 6000s connected

  • North America: would you buy B&O again?

My first post at this great resource. I’m looking for your advice and thoughts. I’ve owned B&O gear since the ‘70s. I have a motley collection of classic B&O, right up to BeoPlay H7. I love the brand, and despite some frustration over the years with compatibilty, build quality, and repair, I am a fan. I have a 4.1 setup with BL 800s in front, BL 6000 surrounds, and 3rd party sub and A/V receiver. I’ve been thinking of moving the 8000s to the surrounds, selling the
