We're now in Wales - profile updated lol!
Ah, that makes sense! Did I see you on 'Escape to the Country'? We have a house in North Buckinghamshire, but probably moving back to UK later this year and looking to move in a similar direction!
No, not been on that, lol! Were already in the country... well, small village (just a much flatter one!) before moving back 'home' Kind of a good place - semi-retirement

Now we're finally in tour new home, the the time finally came when I could unwrap and re-assemble the vintage B&O... This will now be the main kit - a BM5000 amp/tuner w/MCP5000, Beogram 3300 w/MMC4, CD3300, and Beocord 3300 all connected up to a pair of Beovox 1600's and Mk1 5000's - which still have the original legs and gold badges. The original BM3300 Amp/Tuner will shortly be wall-mounted and connected to a pair of X25's I'm currently installing in the kitchen. Oh, and

  • Beomaster 3300 hum

Yesterday one of my Beomaster 3300's developed a hum... It's quite noticeable, and is at the same level on all speaker outputs and on all inputs (including radio) except phono - where it is slightly louder and has a deeper pitch to it. It disappears when unit is muted. Music still produced, and is undistorted. Am I right in thinking this is probably one of the caps on the Power Supply board? If so, which is the main culprit - and what value/rating should I use as a replacement. Have decided

  • Is this a good deal?

I'm looking for a second amp for the dining room, spotted this on eBay and wondered if it was a good deal; or too expensive? It's a bit of a way for me (about 2 hours) but he says he can meet me about half way (Bluewater). http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222407528827 What do you think?

  • Re: Beocord 3300 problem..

Well... good news to report, all working perfectly now, recorded for 45 straight without a hitch, and playback sounds absolutely fantastic. Thanks to all for their help, and especially Martin Ben.

Thanks Martin, you were absolutely spot-on I must have squeezed them slightly when I re-fitted the mechanism.... Now to fire up the (sadly non B&O) turntable and check the record/playback capability Thanks again! Ben.

  • Re: Beocord 3300 problem..

Thanks for the link, I mounted the belts exactly how Iit shows in the last photo. I assume this was correct - as his is working. Is it possible to set how far in the heads push to the tape? I still think this could maybe be the reason, it does look overly harshly 'gripped' if you see what I mean? Thanks! Ben.

  • Re: Beocord 3300 problem..

Sorry, you're correct it is the right one that rotates, NOT the left - not sure why I wrote that... I know left from right normally... lol!! Thanks! Ben.

  • Re: Beocord 3300 problem..

There is no movement at all when play is pressed - although both rotate fine when fast forward or rewind are pressed. Just to add - I have just tried it without a tape at all, and when I press play the left hand wheel rotates fine, and seemingly at the correct speed. Also, I have noticed that when I press play with the tape inserted it looks like the whole tape is being pushed very firmly against the top of the slot - so I'm wondering if the heads are going tight up against the tape and stopping
