• Re: Beosound Edge - Reactions?
One thing B&O of late has illustrated quite clearly is just how much of their past design success and their products were directly the result of the two main designers, first Jacob Jensen, and then David Lewis, who I liked even more than Jensen. Without these two strong designers the company's designs and approach has been adrift in my opinion. Makes one appreciate the efforts of Jensen and Lewis even more. During those days B&O had a very coordinated, integrated

  • Beosound Edge - Reactions?
......there does seem to be utter disbelief from some posters that there are people that like it, as if we aren't able to comprehend what we are dealing with, almost like people who like it are deficient in some way and its said in multiple posts by the same people........
I think this sort of illustrates the issue. People are bashing or liking the Edge, I haven’t seen anybody bashing anybody else, until something like this is said. Those ranting about

  • Beosound Edge - Reactions?

Why do people keep saying “I’m SURE it sounds GREAT”? I haven’t read anything in the press releases on any reimagined audio technology, let alone the presence of electrostatic tweeters or acoustic lenses, no servo controlled woofers, essentially monoscopic imaging, etc. Are we just being kind, or presuming there is some magnificent qualities to the drivers being put into these, coupled with ingenious acoustic tuning beyond DSP? I suppose, ‘sounds great’ in this case, is very relative, considering

  • Beolab 8000 or Beolab Penta for Movie/Music
Not to dis or anything, but he should be informed about the issue with the Beolab 8000 when aging. Repairing it yourself takes some skill.
Fair enough. However, the Pentas would have even more drivers to worry about wouldn’t they? A lot I see on eBay actually are sold with foam rot, while I have yet to see any BL8000s being sold with foam rot. Not say they don’t get them, I suppose that is the issue with any old speakers. I went through an Infinity vintage

  • Re: A9 makes plastic sounding pops and clicks.

Yes, mounted on a wall. Someone mentioned that it might pop when reconnecting or refreshing the wireless network. I’m not sure what the correlation is in regards to network connection; that would mean the pops are from the speaker. To me however, the pop seem to be the actual physical unit, sort of a heat contraction sort of sound. I’m not sure what you have been told in regards to where the sound comes from, or for what reason?

  • Beolab 8000 or Beolab Penta for Movie/Music

Hi Bincheng, I recently completed a new set up for my living room. I am connecting to a Yamaha, and in your case, a Sonos. I also wanted a high quality system for both music and especially for movies. After much thought, work, and planning, I ended up with Beolab 8000. The bass is actually not bad, but for movies, a subwoofer would complete the system. I would recommend that you get a set of Beolab 8000. Later on, you will be able to get a Beolab 2. While your budget is currently limited, you can

I have been having this issue. I recently commented about it in a thread. It’s exactly as described, a plastic pop/hollow crack sort of sound. Mine occurs late at night, around 1am or 2am. Sorry to hear about your woes. Typically, this sort of thing doesn’t bother me too much, since it occurs when I’m not particularly paying attention to the A9, but I have to admit, the amount of popping and how loud it is is rather disconcerting.

  • Re: New Turntable from B&O anytime?
........and yet others think that voice control would somehow be compatible with or improve what is essentially a hands-on operation........
Yep. I only mention the "wireless" thing because Gen-Z have to have it voice controlled or wireless lest they deem it way, way, way too complicated to figure out. Just watch videos of young adults trying to figure out how to dial a number off a rotary phone. Ironically Gen-Z in part are responsible for the

  • New Turntable from B&O anytime?

I have been looking at a wave of new turntables being released by audio brands that used to make them back in the day, and due to a rise in vinyl popularity, have started making them again. Of course those that have been making them for a niche market have been feasting. Yamaha has a new one that is wireless and controllable through Alexa. Second hand Beograms have steadily been going up in price, with the Beogram 8000 having doubled in price over the last year or two. Seeing that some companies

The danger with this sort of trail of thought is that they might convince themselves that this is true, thereby using this result as a setting of the bar of what reimagining something is, a cake tin. Reimagining how we live with sound is
