  • Re: Beoplay on qvc shopping channel now.

@Butch1 "B&o should have stuck to their roots in Denmark and just produced quality iconic items to a niche market" I couldn't agree more! The problem is, - once you go Chinese discount, there is no turning back ! Case and point, last Friday the S3 could be yours for just 1490 skr or roughly 110 gbp.. Would you buy a product at list price ?

  • Re: BeoLab 7.1 on a BeoVision 7-32

Hi In an existing surround setup, such as yours, you should go with the 7-4, -its really only surpassed as center by the the BL 10. There is a world of difference in how your 7.1/5.1 will be presented with or without a proper center speaker. That being said the 7-1 is ....pretty awesome!

  • Re: Trouble connecting set-top box to Beovision 7-40 mk2

Despite numerous efforts I have never made this work on a MKII ! I does however work on a MKIII using the HDMI. Personally I prefer the color tone of the MKII over the MKIII, so I am happily living with the RGB Scart input on the mkII. Besides,- that leaves the DVI input wide open for a NUC style computer. Not only will it rejuvenate your 7-40II i will also ad BR, Streaming, HDR etc With a bit of attention and some TLC,- It still a very capable TV! Not to mention beautiful!

  • Re: Masterlinking Beovision 7 TVs

Hi Paul If you do have the MKII of the BV7-55 (aka the 3D version), you have a gem, properly the the best TV B&O ever made! The image, supported by the black levels of the microdimming is IHMO simply outstanding! Right next to you four HDMI sockets of witch two are occupied (indecently,- if you can accept SD quality on your DVBT you can pull the cable, for some reason its routed internally, go figure ), you should have two more HDMI sockets, one already occupied (the BV7 screen) the second is

" I understand that I cannot distribute HD signal from HDMI units through the house" ..Actually you can! Simply use the Cinema function of you BV7-55,- aka Format 0 This will send the complete image & functionality to a secondary BV7. If your 7-55 is equipped with a dual HDMI output like mine, you will get the HD audio as well, Pretty sweet Works even better with a BL1000, SHIFT+STORE (Faster). Like magic, the drapes closes on the BV7-55 in one room,- just to reappear on the BV7-40

  • Re: New BeoVision

@Beogreg The Avant speakers are good and the design is magic, like it would be expected from a B&O product! But they are by no means extraordinary... especially compared to what really was extraordinary : The BL7 range of TV speakers. A single BL7-4 boosts more power than the entire AVANT system...combined! Ironically, by integrating speakers into the TV, B&O more or less lost the option of bundling products, from the only remaining segment with a decent offering,- the active speakers...

  • Re: New BeoVision

@Razlaw Having gone through many combinations over the years, I have come to realize, just how important the center speaker is. Everything from a faint whisper, a smack in the face or a loud scream, has to be conveyed accurately by that one speaker. There simply is no substitute, and you cannot fake a center using multiple speakers... The current AVANT is a carefully balanced system, cost, size and design all had to be weighted in, and its a package deal not meant to be broken into pieces. So even

  • Re: New BeoVision

@Razlaw I am very cautions about giving advice about actual TVs since it a highly sensitive matter.. What i can vouch for though,- without a dedicated center, you will be taking a step down i sound experience. Depending on how you use your TV on a daily basis, there might be other considerations, coming into play. If you do want to give a new TV a shot, do me a favor and get yourself a copy of the Hateful Eight, that movie clearly illustrates why the center is really important! About the menu, I

@10% "Is the BL7.6 loudspeaker itself a superior hardware setup to that of the Avant's bolt-on module - absolutely I think. Is the BV7-55 Sound-processing as good the Avant? - no it is no where near as good. Net result: Avant's sound in my opinion is much better than the BV7-55" As I said, a highly sensitive matter... The DSP is doing an outstanding job in the AVANT trying to compensate the lack of volume , provided you dont push it! But technically, the Avant speaker, simply cannot

  • Re: New BeoVision

@Mjmeldo So if the AVANT really is doing such a great job, why bring in the cavalierly of vintage gems? I did try the Avant because the design was appealing, but the sound of the internal speakers, although impressive, simply bottoms out at higher levels. That is,- unless you bring in the cavalierly
