  • Re: MMC 6000 vs 4000

Peter, Thank you for the in depth explanation! I have both and my MMC6000 lost it's stylus back in 84 so I replaced it with the MMC20EN that is now worn out. There is one place that will replace the cantilever & stylus with an elliptical - aluminum set up in either one for the same price. I was thinking of having it done to my 6000 just to have it back on my 4002 although it looks like there is no advantage over the 20EN. Thanks, Jim.

  • MMC 6000 vs 4000

Can anyone tell me if there is any difference between the two besides the stylus & cantilever? Thanks, Jim.

Thank you for your input. I appreciate reading about the difference in sounds it will help in my decision. I am of the older generation as well as all of my equipment from my first turntable a Dual 1229 now running with a Shure M97xE, my Mac MR71 tuner on out to my B&O M70 and Sansui SP5500 speakers. All going through my newest piece a Accuphase E202 Integrated Amp I bought at the same time as my 4002 in 74. I'm also playing with my Crown SX824 and Teac 6010GSL to keep me busy. I think I

So the SMMC20EN is a new cart they make and not a B&O re-build?

  • Beogram 4002 cart worn.

Hello all and Merry Christmas!! Looks like my MMC20EN cartridge is worn out. I tested it using a Hi-Fi News Analogue Test LP and it fails band 7,8 & 9 bias setting on side 1. It pass all tests when I first checked it about 6 months ago after a slight tweek of the cartridge in the tone arm. I looked at the cart under a microscope and can see a flat spot on either side of the stylus that makes me think it is worn out. I am wondering about getting it rebuilt or buying a used one off fleabay. I have

According to my service manual "Adjust 8R2 to admit passage of pickup signal between 1 and 2 disc revolutions after pickup has been lowered" You may want to clean 8R2 first. Jim.

Remove the right rear cover and check the tone arm drive motor and belt.

Well I'm still at it. My deck worked just fine for about 2 months then the problem came back. I have replaced transistors 1TR14, 1TR15 & 1TR16 with no help. Also when I monitor the base of 1TR14 there is no change at all when the problem happens. The base of 1TR15 drops from .5 to .3 mv. so I do not think that is the cause. The base and emitter of 1TR16 goes to 17 volts as does the base of 0TR4 but the tone arm solenoid activates and lifts the arm which I do not understand. The other weird
