  • Re: Beocentre 4600

Hello Martin and all, I thought I might hijack this thread as I having exactly the same issue with a BC4600. Record player works perfectly, tape deck works. Not sure about the tuner, I would guess so. When I turn it on, no sound at all, no thump and nothing from the speakers, with Speakers 1 pressed and also tried the headphone socket. Nothing. Any help would be so useful, thanks Mike

Thanks Martin, Any thoughts on the high speed rotation? 70rpm at times, an intermittent problem. Michael

  • Re: Beogram 1600 arm cueing problem

I worked out the tonearm is the same as on the Beogram 2200, so downloaded that manual. There, I found out that the above mentioned screw is for balancing the tonearm. So I balanced the tonearm and set the tracking weight properly and the arm plays correctly now. However, sometimes when I press 33/Play, the platter rotates very quickly (about 70rpm) and I don't know why? Can anyone please help with this? Thanks in advance, Mike

Hello Martin, I've just had a close look at what's happening. When the arm comes across over the record, it lowers but does not make contact with the vinyl. The anti skate then brings the arm back to the rest position. Is it possible to adjust the set down height of the arm? (playing height) I understand what you're saying about the tracking weight, I set it to 1.2g with a digital scales as per cartridge spec. (MMC20EN) However, I am not sure what the screw at the rear of the counterweight

Hello Martin, Yes there was a cartridge on the tonearm. During the cleaning process, I removed the counterweight as the whole turntable was very dirty. I had not replaced it properly in the arm and I think this was the problem as when I did my checks over everything to try to source the fault, I noticed this and then the problem cleared. Many thanks for your reply though. Regards Michael

  • Beogram 1600 arm cueing problem

Hello all, Just looking at a 1600 for a friend and finding a problem with the arm cueing. Functions as follows: Press 33, the platter turns. The arm swings over the record to the first track but does not lower. The arm swings back to the start position. Platter continues spinning. Press Stop and the platter stops spinning. I cannot find a manual for this item anywhere, can someone please help guide me as to the problem here? Thanks in advance, Mike
