• Re: Simple minimalistic good looking RIAA preamp

I found this http://www.music-group.com/Categories/Behringer/Computer-Audio/Audio-Interfaces/UFO202/p/P0A12 Seem to be "good enough" for my purpose. Reasonably small, USB-powered and not an ugly cheap black metal box (no, it is not exactly good looking but compared to the other options available it is at least not ugly).

  • Simple minimalistic good looking RIAA preamp

I need to buy a simple not so expensive RIAA preamp but they are all som clumsy and/or ugly! And all of them come with unnecessarily (?) big power adapters. So can someone recommend unexpensive, minimalistic RIAA preamp, maybe USB-powered (then I can use one of my phone chargers that are much "sleeker" than the average generic power adapter)?

  • Re: Beolab 8000 - white noise?

Hmm, I don't understand - can they be set to something else? There is sound but it is a very noticeable white noise as well.

  • Beolab 8000 - white noise?

I just a got a new TV. Now I have connected my BL8000 to the headphone jack on this TV but the result was a lot of white noise. If I connect a pair of headphones to the TV, there is no noise nor is it any noise if I connect my iPhone to the speakers through the phone's headphone jack. I am confused. Any suggestions?

  • AppleTV 4, Beolab speakers and volume too high

I play music using AirPlay to an ATV4 connected via an HDMI -> TOS -> analog output-adapter to my Beolab-speakers. Now the problem is that I can't play sound at a low level with this setup. Changing volume in iTunes works but even if I set the volume really low the output volume is still medium high (for example, it is too high to talk on the phone or not disturbing neighbours if listening late in the evenings). It seems the ATV does not respect the low volume signal from iTunes. What can

  • Re: How to adjust the volume on my BL8000?
Whilst it is possible to adjust the digital levels in software (computers with digital outputs commonly do this) it is not desirable to do so as this also results in a loss of resolution / dynamic range in the process.
24/192 :-)
A line level pre-amp between the output of your DAC and the speakers, or a pre-amp with a TOSLINK input (instead of your current DAC) would be the preferred options. A purely digital preamp? Does it exist? Should be possible to achieve in software.

Hmm, you don't know if there exist at "box" with TOSLINK in and out that allows me to manipulate the volume of the TOSLINK signal?

  • How to adjust the volume on my BL8000?

I have a pair of BL8000 connected to a non-BO TV using the TV's TOSLINK via a D/A-converter with optical input and RCA-output. The problem now is that I can't adjust the volume. The volume control for the TV apparently has no effect on the signal sent via TOS-link. Interestingly enough, this "default volume" I get is loud, but not the max volume the speakers can produce, so it is still listenable without earplugs (although I wouldn't want to watch a full movie at this sound

  • Re: A lot of noise from BL8000

Will try that tomorrow, but first I need to find a proper cable. This is surprisingly difficult - I need a 3,5 mm tele/phono in one end and RCA in the other. Generally that kind of cable are very easy to find but now I need a cable where you can separate the two RCA connectors a few meters (since the speakers are located a few meters apart) and basically all 3,5 mm tele <--> RCA-cables I find have a small plastic "mounting" 1 dm or so from the RCA end that prevents splitting the cable
