  • Re: Beogram 8000 Restore Questions:

Sonavor, it's as if you are reading my browser history. I became interested in the BG 8000 after spending too much time on beolover's website. Reading and watching quality B&O repairs beats anything on TV. And funny you should mention the Beomaster 8000 as one just showed up for sale locally, supposedly it is in good shape and at $500, since I've just started watching these on eBay I'm not sure how fair a price it is. And it works, I've only been shopping for broken units

Thank you for your response sonavor, I think I have found a replacement for the slider! Also, thank you for the superb write up you did on the BG 8000 this past summer, I referenced it so many times trying to put this thing to together having never seen one in person before. It's a special challenge re-assembling something someone else disassembled. I will leave my big fat cap in place then, I'm finding that ordering parts is just as much of a learning experience for me as learning to repair

  • Beogram 8000 Restore Questions:

I bought a non-working Beogram 8000 in a pile of pieces that I have just about brought back to life but have a couple questions and am looking for 2 parts if you happen to have them. 1-Does anyone know if the Beogram 8000 shares the sliding tonearm weight indicator window part with another machine? All I have is a loose sliding weight inside the tone arm and am on the hunt for the right part. Also, is the plastic slider and screw the only pieces missing on this part of the tonearm? It sure slides

  • Good cartridge repair experience

Just a quick report on a positive cartridge rebuilds from Hans-Henrik AKA pickupservice out of Denmark via eBay. For me he rebuilt a MMC2 and MMC5 and both are superb. I won't pretend to write a cartridge comparison and review but it is amazing how much better they sound and respond compared to my tired SMMC3 or old stock MMC5. I easily put 4+ hrs of play on my turntable most everyday so these will be greatly loved. He is priced far less than other options and is a really nice guy to communicate

Relay arrived in the mail this morning, installed while the coffee was brewing and hurray! The Beocord works! Two months of trying and testing and studying and waiting for shipments from Asia and Europe. Thanks to Martin for his expert advice in this thread and his advice over the course of years to other members that are so amazingly archived on this forum. Pictures of the relay used from recommendation of Martin and the Omron representative, and a picture of it installed for the reference of the

Learning in progress here. Relay is good. Continuity between pin 4& 6, 13&11. 9v current to pins 1&16 gives me discontinuity between 4&6, 13&11 but now continuity between 4&8, 13&5. From pictures online of other 8pin 4.5v relays this is a common format. Also if someone else is trying to find a replacement, emailed Omron about the relay being out of production and they state that the g2v-2 4.5vdc is replaced by the Omron g5v-2 4.5. So I will order a replacement and test

Thank you, I've put new 470mf caps in and cleaned the relay again. Nothing. Primary survey redone, everything connected, switched, etc. still nothing. Pulled the relay out. Not totally sure where to test for continuity with these 8pins and the diagram of the relay from the service manual doesn't tell the untrained which connections correlate to which pin. Trying different combos with manipulation of the inner contacts is still leaving me nowhere. I'm assuming the relay is my source of

  • 1980's Beocord 5000 type4923 very low and rough sound output

1980's Beocord 5000 type4923 very low and rough sound output. First: I did all the belts. Then the r20 10ohm resistor on the power board and now it physically runs and sounds as if playback speed is correct. The only audio I get is at very high volumes I get a faint distant sound out of two known working tapes and the sound is crackly distorted. My uneducated guess is the sound is bypassing any preamp in the deck. I've think I've read every post I can find on the deck or ones that are

  • Re: BeoGram 5000 Speaker Advice

It won't work directly with the bose. You will still need a phono preamp since there is an equalization curve that the phono preamp will correct before it will be amplified. It will make sound but not much sound and definitely not sound good. Sounds like a sweet gift. My mom is getting chocolate.

  • Re: BeoGram 5000 Speaker Advice

I found B&O this year in a similar fashion as you, bought a table, fixed it, and then wanted to connect directly to speakers. Are you looking to connect straight to speakers from your turntable or through a receiver or amp then to speakers? The BG 5000 doesn't have a phono preamp built in so you will need one of those in between your table and the speakers (which will need to be powered speakers if you are looking to avoid using a receiver). Many B&O powered speakers don't have volume
