• Re: Beosound Emerge

Steve and John, thank you for your review, I was very interested in how this speaker performed. It sounds very good, but... My biggest takeway is that it is a great speaker at lower listening volumes, not so much if its cranked up a little. I typiocally listen at moderate volumes, but sometimes I do want to crank it up a little. I would have a hard time spending $900 (for the oak version which I like better) knowing that I have that limitation with the speaker. Maybe it would make a fine office speaker

  • Re: Beosound Level: Differences Google vs non-Google?

I purchased the Level GVA in oak the day it was announced. I didn't plan on using the Google Assistant and planned on turning the microphone off until I needed to do a room calibration. I am not a fan of placing listening devices all over my house for the little convenience that it offers. I was unable to configure the Level with the B&O app, but was able to do the initial configuration from my MacBook Air since it sees it as a new Airplay device. I then could "finish" the configuration

  • Beosound Balance - Stereo?

I am getting ready to buy a Beosound Balance but unfortunately I will not be able to see it in person before I buy. I am hoping that it passes my "Kanna Hashimoto" - "Arigato" test like my Beosound 2. Does anyone know if the 2 sets of full range drivers are configured for stereo? I'm pretty sure they probably are, I just am hoping to verify that.
$279 to replace the power cord? To remove it is a straight pull: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjxILSOfJmQ
I've read that $279 is the standard out-of-warranty repair cost. If the powercord gets damaged the cost is $39 to replace it, upon assessment on how it got damaged. I guess if Apple believes the way it got damaged doesn't fall within its criteria to be a $39 repair, that will open up a market for 3rd party power cables that can easily be replaced
for those who value the "smarts" of these speakers
And for people like me who only use Siri to hear her mangle Japanese names and words. "Hey Siri what's playing?" Actually she doesn''t do too bad, but to hear her say "Kyary Pamyu Pamyu"...
And the review below is much more lukewarm, and is a proper test from an audio sensitive guy.
I've read a lot of love for the HomePod and a lot of hate especially in comments. I wonder how much of ones opinion is what you wanted to walk away with initially. It's not suprising that one $350 speaker will have some limitations that some people will focus intently on, but what's it going to be like when you can stereo pair them. And... if Apple decides

  • Re: BeoLab 3 vs HomePod
I have read reviews where the "stereo" sound with a pair of Homepods sounds different than "stereo" that we're all used to. Haven't experienced this myself, but I think we all may be comparing apples / oranges; pardon the pun. I still contend that traditional stereo should sound better on a pair of Beolab 3's than two Homepods.
Is stereo pairing of HomePods available to anyone yet? I thought that Apple stated that this was available

The only information that I have to go by is the statement on Apple's Homepod page: Create stereo sound with a second HomePod. Put another HomePod in the same room and they automatically detect and balance each other. With advanced beamforming capabilities, a HomePod pair is able to create a wider, more immersive soundstage than a traditional stereo pair. I hope this means that the right channel information will be processed by one speaker and the left channel will be processed by the other.
