  • Re: Spent 15.000€ - and so far its a huge disapointment...

Well, even though I purchased the Beolab 20 off ebay, the seller is still an official B&O dealer, so I would not necessarily say, it was a wrong move. So 'only' paying about 6.500€ justifies poor service and poor quality? But then again, I did not complain about the Beolab 20 (couldn't test them yet), my main issue is with that IR-Receiver and Beosystem 4. The IR-receiver feels like 5€ hardware and sells for 100€. Beosystem 4 sells for about 4.500€, does not even

  • Spent 15.000€ - and so far its a huge disapointment...

It took me about 3 hours to setup and assemble (!) the Beolab 20, Transmitter, Beolab 17 and the Beosystem 4 and it does not even work. I don't even understand why each piece comes in several pieces and needs to be assembled - it felt like Ikea, only in a completely different price category. The worst part is the IR-Eye, which needs to have its cables wired. When you connect the IR-Eye with the Beosystem 4, you see: nothing. On both devices there is not a single LED to let you know if it's

  • just bought Beolab 20s :)

So, I finally did it...while negotiating with my B&O dealer, I saw an ebay auction from a different dealer, who was offering brand new Beolab 20s (customer return) for 6.500€ - now they're mine :) I will pick them up sometime next week, so I'm pretty curious, how they are going to perform. I will add Beolab 17s as rears and a Beolab 19 in the near future. Next I will need to get a Beosystem 4 to hook up my TV, Bluray Player etc. Does anyone use Sonos with their Bang & Olufsen

thanks! I was thinking, that the sub might help when watching movies, but I will definitely first try the 20s without a sub. I cannot compare them to the 9s, but I will compare them to Backes & Muller active loudspeakers.

  • Which 5.1 setup would you recommend?

Hi all, as mentioned in an earlier thread, I am looking into buying a B&O surround set. For my living room, in which I will have a beamer setup, I am either thinking of going with a) a pair of Beolab 18s as front speakers, a Beolab 19 sub, and two Beolab 4 as small rear speakers just for surround effects b) same as above, but with two Beolab 17s as rear speakers or c) a pair of Beolab 20s as front speakers, no sub, a Beolab 17 as a center speaker, and two 17s as rear speakers. Currently, I am

hm, I guess my previous post got lost, so I'll try to rewrite it... I think it's a very good idea to also check out a differen B&O dealer. My dealer was very nice, but since the setup seems to be slighty more complicated than my existing Sonos Setup, it might be good, to hear about other recommendations from a different dealer. I am researching a lot at this point, and I'm definitely tending to B&O as of now. As of the functionality, I'm basically looking to have a similar

Thanks a lot for all your answers and opinions! I've been researching a lot, but still have many questions. Even though my B&O dealer was very nice, I should go to a different dealer as well, since the setup does not seem to be as simple as a Sonos setup (at least to me). Apparently, there are many products needed, to make the desired configuration work (like Beosystem 4, several Beo Essence). My wife and I listen to a lot of music & also like to watch TV & movies. With our current

  • Would you still invest in a B&O System?

Hi all, I am new to B&O and to this forum. Since I will be moving to a new house within the next few months, I am considering to buy a new home entertainment & multiroom system, including, but not limited to, a new TV, a 5.1 sytem and several multiroom speakers. According to my first visit to a B&O store, I am looking at a invest of about 25k-35k EURO. That is - to me - a lot of money, especially when considering that there are so many alternatives like Sonos, Bose Soundtouch etc, which
