• Re: Beolab 5 set up with Beovision 11

As Lawrence already mentionend, the Tonmeister and person in charge of sound design at B&O, Geoff Martin discussed this topic on his blog "earfluff and eyecandy" in i think even multiple posts. The most informative one on this matter is "what are subwoofers REALLY for?" (see below) In the end it is up to you and i can very well understand the desire for a shaking room for movies. If you were to use this system for music however I would very much recommend to throw away the

  • Re: Beolab 5 purchase or not?

The "bass heavy" feeling of punch in your friends apartment might very well be present because of the room acoustics. The only valid comparison to find your answer would be to get the Beolab 5 and 50 in one room (best in your apartment of course). Due to the weight a difficult task; yet in my opinion worth the work, considering the price you pay for 50s. I personally haven´t heard the 50s but own a pair of 5s. I had Beolab 9 beforehand and was very sceptical, wether the upgrade would

  • Re: Beolab 5 reliability?

I beg you to read this replay from Dave Moulton (look him up; deeply involved in the development of the 5s) https://forum.beoworld.org/forums/t/2873.aspx?PageIndex=1 I wish not to add anything to his comment, as well as Geoff Martins remark that Steve already mentioned.

Why would you want to downgrade?

  • Re: BeoSound Core Compatibility

All models of the Beolab 5 support up to 96kHz sampling rate. There is no limit at 88.1 kHz. I specifially asked the B&O Support for this once.

  • Re: What started YOUR love for B&O?

I grew up with decent speakers, but never had a real "connection" to them. They just ran the radio and occasionally my mother put on a CD for background music at dinners. I got my relationship to B&O from my mother´s fiance who had a B&O/AV Store at the time. When he moved in, i was probably around 16, he brought a pair of Penta 2 and an Ouverture with him. First of all the design and glass door movement amazed me, but as soon as he asked me if i even listened to music "properly"

  • "Network player" for Beolab 5 Discussion

I am switching to Beolab 5 and already tried to part with the rest of my "collection" and focus more on quality over quantity. My aim is to simply have a pair of 5s connected via coaxial SPDIF to some kind of network player. Any "commercial" solution be it yamaha or naim is plump, big and overkill. I only need spotify/tidal/qobuz and maybe (not even necessarily) something like 20 GB of space of local storage for my digitalised CDs - most of them are available on streaming sites

  • Re: Lautsprecher problem
ich habe einmal die beolab 6000 direkt mit dem centerlautsprecher verbunden und mir kam vor es war mehr Bass vorhanden.
Ich bin definitiv kein Profi was BV Produkte angeht.

https://www.tonmeister.ca/wordpress/2014/06/07/bo-tech-what-is-loudness/ This is an interesting article by the tonmeister at B&O. Might be worth a look for the people interested in the subject of loudness.

  • Beolab 5: Sync cable necessary when using BS9000 as CD Player with SPDIF

Prior to the purchase of a pair of beolab 5 i am currently planning the setup. Since i don´t need a TV in the living/listening room i will probably go for a network player. I know that the sync cable is used to keep the same volume level on both speakers, when for example the IR signal of the Beo4 only reaches one of them. In the manual, there is mentioned many times, that when using a B&O System, you don´t need the Sync cable. Does the Digital Out of the Beosound 9000 have a "built
