• Re: Is buying B&O today a sound investment?

Can't seem to edit my previous post.. To add - I love my BV11-46. It looks cool. It feels quality. It sounds good. But, I know I paid a LOT of money that I really shouldn't of. I mean, a lot of TV's look pretty cool nowadays. Sound is obviously a factor, but the money you save buying a Sony or LG for example buys a lot of speakers - and the choice is endless today. The only bit where I'd say B&O have got it is to the touch - it's night and day more premium to look at and hold

The speed at which technology seems to have moved on recently actually puts me off spending big money. For example - I was tempted by a BS2 but after hearing a Apple Homepod @ £279 I was amazed at how good it sounded for little money. I'm sure there will be a Homepod 2 out in a year or so that sounds even better.. so I'll buy that and give the kids the HP1. I can't quite remember what the competition was like back in the early days of B&O.. but there certainly seems to be a

  • Re: Which Music Streaming Service would best suit these needs?
Oh, sorry - NL is NetworkLink, which is the native, built in multiroom protocol of B&O. When we say ‘Join in’, we mean we connect from one (NL-)device to what is playing on another and vice versa (using the Bang & Olufsen app, the physical button on the device or a BeoRemote One). Your BV11 is a NL device (if set up correctly) and you can join in there to what is playing on whatever other (NL) device you buy e.g. from an M5.... TuneIn is built
Beats 1 has been a success up to a point i believe, but it does focus quite a bit on modern r'n'b and hip hop, so if that's not always going to be your thing, it may not be a mainstay. I'd draw your attention to the recent (i believe) update that allows you Beoremote 1 (that you use with the BV11) to have some control over a BS2, A9 etc. It's limited this far to usual playback controls, but it also nice to be able to select from one of your TuneIn
Indeed- if you have music playing on the Apple TV, then other devices like a BS1 / Edge can join in (using the app or physically tapping them). Alternatively if you are streaming Apple Music to an Edge for example, you can join the TV setup using your BV11 remote. The only minor wrinkle with the B&O app is that if you are AirPlaying from an iOS device to multiple products, the B&O app doesn’t see it as a multi room session. A minor issue to me though.
If you have no other B&O/NL devices it all should come down to which UI you like most - unless you are like Martin and would claim to hear a difference between a 360 stream and a losless. You will have to use AirPlay from the app /the service in favour. However, if you have (or plan to have) an NL device in the setup, you should try Deezer (and do try out the loslees version too to be sure) - that could make things easier. There should be no problem in trying
Beyond sound quality, consider how you are going to stream - using a native Apple TV app primarily, or using an iOS device? I ask because while Apple Music, Tidal, and i assume Spotify have native Apple TV apps, navigating, searching and choosing music is still a bit clunky on the TV / Apple TV.
Thanks for reply Sandy. I don't think Spotify has an ATV app yet. On the BV11 (with ATV & BL9's) I would probably use / try the Apple Music app within

Cheers guys - that's the kind of replies I was hoping for! Interesting Jeff re difficulty in noticing quality differences between streaming services - I'm glad you mentioned this as this was my main concern. It makes sense what you say. Thank you I forgot to mention - recently just installed an Apple TV 4K onto my BV11 and liked the idea that the ATV now has a Apple Music App. Sorry to mention sound quality again.. but would the sound quality be better through the ATV Music app (obviously
I would go with Apple Music in your case.
Yeah, it's looking that way The 3 month free trial is tempting me.! Do you have to Airplay the music to a B&O speaker like for example a BS1or2? And does Airplay sound as good as having something like Deezer built into the speaker? This is the bit I get confused with! Cheers

  • Which Music Streaming Service would best suit these needs?

Hi, I'm a complete newcomer to Music Streaming Services (MSS), so would appreciate any help and guidance please. I'm not sure if there is a 'best' solution (for me) but if we base it on a user/family with only Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac etc) and only B&O speakers, is there a MSS which integrates best? Sound quality needs to be good, so is there a MSS best for this? I've had a quick look on Google and currently it's a choice between Apple Music and Spotify. Spotify
