  • Re: Beosystem 5500 - Looking for information

@Guy, thanks for this. I am familiar with how to do option programming. The problem is that one BM5500 can be option programmed. When executing the sequence, I get the response on the display saying "o2" once I put it to OPTION 2. The other BM5500 does not respond to that sequence, I get no feedback on the display that the option was accepted. All I see that when I press 2 on Beo4, the LED on the BM5500 front plate blinks that some sort of signal was received. But no confirmation in the

@Dillen, quick question. The service manual for 5500 on Beoworld is only a schematic and there's no additional information in the PDF. Is it safe to use BM6500 service manual as a guidance to replace the front plate on the BM5500?

  • Re: Beosystem 5500 - Looking for information

Okay, this hasn' occurred to me that the top cover could be from BM5000. I'll have to check the cover to confirm this. In any case, any ideas why I can't do option programming on the frankenstein BM5500? I sort of want that the receiver goes to AUX when I press TV or DVD button on my Beo4. This functionality works on the BM5500, but not on the other ...

You are right, I checked BM5000 product page and it is indeed of type 2329. However, I am quite certain that the internal components are from BM5500 since I am able to control it with my Master Control Panel 5500 and with Beo4 remote control. If it were a BM5000, I wouldn't be able to control it with those two remotes. I tried replacing the front plates on the two BMs but it wasn't that trivial. Perhaps I could give it another go.

  • Beosystem 5500 - Looking for information

Hi I have two Beomaster 5500 receivers. Hardware wise, they should both be identical but in some aspects they are not. I am hoping that someone will have more information. First Beomaster 5500 is of type 2329 and the s/n is 3371006. This one is in a better cosmetical state. Second Beomaster 5500 is type 2331 and the s/n is 04665679. This version also has two stickers at the back that type 2329 does not. One sticker says BEOLINK and the other sticker is S/W 2.3. The only difference (somewhat an annoying

  • Re: Beogram 7000: No datalink, no sound, all play functions normal

In order for datalink to work, the Beogram 7000 cable should have 7 pins in the DIN plug. Check if all 7 of them are there. This however does not explain why there is no sound. Where did you plug the Beogram in the Beomaster? I think 4500 does not have a RIAA preamp so any AUX, TAPE inputs should work fine.

  • Re: Beovox Penta with Beolink passive

Beolab 2 is an active subwoofer and has only POWERLINK inputs/outputs. The easiest would be to plug the Beolab 2 to the RCA marked with PRE-OUT on the 5500. However, I'm not entirely sure whether Beolab 2 needs a trigger signal. I bet Steve will be able to answer this one.

  • Re: Beogram 5500 set up questioon

There is, however you will need a phono preamplifier since Beogram 5500 does not have it built in and Beomaster 7000 does not have a phono preamp (it was built in the Beogram 7000). If you put in a generic phono preamp you wont be able to control Beogram 5500 via Master Control Panel. You might need a preamp with DIN plugs that will also forward the datalink signal that is needed for remote operation of the Beogram 5500. Not sure where to find such a unit. I'll have a look around. Let me know

I believe plugging the Beogram into the PHONO input on the Beomaster should be the first thing to do. Try playing the record. See what happens and report back in case of any issues.
