Hello guys, I’m hoping someone may have some knowledge. I’ve done quite a bit of research but I will summarise here. I have the MS 6000, old software so uses the Beo 1000 remote, this model also only has one Scart input and one input for S Video. I have looked all over for manuals but they all reference the Beo 4 remote, which I have but the instructions are not applicable.

I found out how to actually activate S Video mode due to Vienna’s post close to the bottom of this thread: https://archivedforum.beoworld.org/forums/p/38050/334229.aspx

Due to me having the older software or possibly becuase of the limited inputs on the MS 6000 there is no Menu to access which would usually allow you to select AV1 or AV2 to take the audio from when using S Video. From other versions I see you can use a Scart adapter, plug the left/right audio phono from the S Video cable into the Scart adapter, then Scart adapter into the Scart connection of the TV.

My main issue is I’m not getting sound coming through that connector when used with the S Video connection. Seeing as I had to do a few steps to activate the S Video I’m wondering if I need to do something special to tell the set to grab audio from the Scart when using S Video. Would anyone have information on this?

I’ve been all over for manuals but as I said I can’t get anything with instructions for using a Beo 1000 remote. I know I can output the audio not via the TV but I’m seeing if there is some alternative first. If anyone can shed some light I would be really grateful, thanks for your time reading regardless.

      Thank you

From a quick look at the manual I too believe that the sound should work via the SCART.

Are you sure that the SCART adaptor is set to ‘input’  (to the TV), rather than provide an output?  The simple adaptors often have a little switch so that you can select the direction of signal travel.

Thank you Guy, even that is good information that you have a manual to reference, so there is no mention of special procedure? Just plug audio into Scart and S Video should detect?

It’s a good point the switch on the Scart adapter, but yes I checked, confirmed this by plugging in a component signal and everything is good with video+audio.

          Appreciate your time!

Sorry but I realised I was also looking at the MS6000 with Beo4 manual.

There are some other TVs (eg LS4500) that use SHIFT 9 to activate S Video, but there is no further instruction regarding how to get the sound through SCART.

Can I just check:  Are you selecting the input using V.TAPE, and then pressing SHIFT 9 to try to bring in the S- Video input?  Can I also just check that you are pressing SHIFT then 9, and not the buttons together?

That’s all good Guy, I don’t know if I was being a dummy but you helped me fix the problem!

I must have not been powering the MS 6000 on with the V-TAPE button first, when I did that, then switched to S-Video the sound came through the Scart as we would expect. I imagine previously I was powering on with the TV button then changing over to V-TAPE, all seems so obvious when things start working. Thanks so much for your help, very happy to have this working, now my N64 can look decent quality through the S-Video with nice B&O speakers.

Admin is welcome to close the thread of necessary. Thanks!

Thanks for getting back to us to let us know that you solved the problem – it’s always welcome to hear that a solution worked, and I am sure that there will be others with similar problems in the future.

                Enjoy your TV!
