  • Mute relay suggestions

Hi everyone! I have a Beomaster 5500 with a shot mute relay. I also have a couple of similar units that probably will need the relay replaced sometime soon. Now, my question is whether someone has had good or bad experiences with any particular make or kind of that type of relay? If there's a particularly...

  • Beomaster 5500 tuner misbehavior

I made the mistake of unplugging my BM5500 to dust behind it a while ago, and it hasn't quite been the same since. When I reconnected it, the sound settings had gone nuts (bass and treble turned way down, balance all the way over to one side), and my tuner presets were gone, replaced by all sorts...

  • Beomaster 5500 initial volume problems

Hello all I am new to this forum and hope for your help on my (new old) Beomaster 5500. When I turn on the system the sound is very low with a lot of treble and no bass. I can get the sound back into normal quality by increasing or decreasing the volume on the master control panel – it makes some...

  • Beomaster 5500 - No Aux_Tape2 RH Channel

Hello, Decided to get to the bottom of a problem with an old 'E-Bay' purchase - perhaps someone can assist. MCP 5500 seems to work fine - can audibly hear the Mute Relay cycle. No audio output from RH speaker (either 1 or 2) when using Tape2/Aux RCA Jacks - However, both L & R channels work...

  • How do you open the lid on a Beomaster 5000

I feel silly for asking this question, but for the life of me I can't get the darn thing open to get inside. I've looked at the service manual, unscrewed every visible screw even if I didn't think it was holding down the cover and it won't budge. Clearly I'm missing something. Can...

  • Beomaster 5500 Intermittent Noise at Certain Volume Levels

Greetings! New silver member here. I'm working on a friend's Beomaster 5500, Beocord 5500, and Beolab Penta Type 6633 components. This is my first encounter with B&O equipment repair although I'm comfortable working around electronics. Problem: The Beomaster 5500, with or without input...

Thank you, Ralph. Your suggestions certainly helped resolve my issues. As I had posted this question on the General Discussion & Questions forum and also received an answer there from Nick (solderon29), I'm going to post what I did to resolve the issues here in case someone else can benefit....

  • Master Control Panel 5500 Knob and Sensor

Hello My latest project is a Beomaster 5500 with the Master Control Panel 5500. The MCP5500 uses a rotating knob to adjust things like Volume, Balance, etc. The knob has a printed black and white pattern around the perimeter to indicate movement which is read by a reflective optical sensor. The direction...

  • Beomaster 5500 humming in standby and turned on

Hi I hope you can help on this one. I am the otherwise satisfied owner of a Beomaster 5500, but I have an issue with the device humming while plugged to the mains power. Nothing goes into the speakers, but the humming is quite annoying. My best guess is that the noise is coming from the transformer....
