Got a 1602 in the original box with the manuals, receipts, business card of the guy who originally sold it to the guy I bought it from. Dead clean, stylus is virtually unused. The start/stop/speed switch seems to do everything correctly but the motor doesn't seem to engage to start. After selecting the speed to start and hearing a click, nothing happens. I can manually hold down the Turn button and the tonearm will start playing correctly but if you let go it just slows to a stop. Pressing stop also makes a click sound but tonearm won't return unless you manually hold down the Turn button again. Counterweight is set correctly and output sounds great. Belt is still strong and almost turns at the exact speed. Everything inside is clean and free of dust/gunk. Pin connectors are all snug and connected all the way. Should I be looking for some kind of relay to engage the start motor?

Check for cracked solder joints and oxidized contacts.
And of course that the linkage system from the operating panel to the mechanics are intact and working.

I'll go in and make sure all the contacts and solenoids are clean. The guy I got it from tried it out right in front of me and everything worked fine. Brought it home and something must have come loose because it hasn't worked right since he tried it out.

All the joints look fine. Retouched up the two on the button panel. Replaced the 470uf/40v electrolytic just to be safe. Cleaned all the solenoids and connector pins with a little bit of DeOxit. No luck, same problems. I'm not electronically savvy enough to go through step by step so I may just sell for cheap. My RX2 works just fine!
