Hello and first of all, scuse me for my bad English.....

I have had a wonderful Beovision5 from year 2002 but it has dead some years ago. Then i bought a Beovision 9 and i have put my Bv5 in garage waiting for repairs.....

Some months ago, i have had in my hands a Beosystem3 Mk1 and i started the job. I want to use Beosystem 3 to drive my old Beovision5.

I thought it can be simply but..... it is not at all!

The first thing is setting up the Bv5 plasma monitor.

I have connected Dvi "Display1" on Beosystem3 to Vga on Beovision5 plasma monitor. Then, i have connected Serial "Monitor" on Beosystem3 to Serial on Beovision5 plasma monitor.

I obviously did setting up "monitor" on Beosystem3 setup-menu (tryed every possible setting about "Beo monitor").

I have spent many and many hours about this thing, but it seems realli impossible........ I have two giant problems.

The first problem is:

When Bv5 plasma monitor is "on", it seems to "disturb" ir signals........ I press keys on Beo4 remote, but they are often not recognized....... When i cut off power and so turn off Bv5 monitor, ir signals are correctly recognised.

The second problem is:

It seems impossible to drive monitor functions "On Off Bright Dim Colors"...... I have connected the monitor via a "null modem cable". Not work. I have tryed to invert pin 2 and 3. Not work........

I am a little tired because i have spent many many time about this thing and i have had no success..... so i am here asking to you if someone know a way to do it.

I was considering idea about buying a new monitor and controlling it via Lintronic, but i woud like to use old Bv5 plasma monitor.......

Can someone help me suggesting some way to do the job?

I hope you have understand me because i know my english is very bad.....

Thank you!

Ema from Italy.

Do you have any picture on your BV5 plasma from the BS3?

Why not getting a BV4- 42? It should fit into the cabinet.

Simple to connect to the BS3 in 720p...

I have a Bv5-42 screen...... Is not this same as Bv4- 42? Has it some different connections? This is the very important question!!

Of course. My BV4- 42 has VGA and DVI connecions and a Serial connector to turn it on or off. This fits perfect for BS 2 or 3...

My Bv5-42 monitor, has Vga and Serial connections too. So, i think this is the same monitor. I can see pictures on monitor (so, Vga signal is ok) but i have problems on "serial connections" and monitor does not turn on and off and does not adjust brightness and other setting. I need to know serial cable wiring....... I see only 3 wires and i need to know how to connect these.

Beosystem3, works anyway, even without "monitor cable" connected. So, you are able to turn on and off Beosystem3 simply pressing Beo4 key.....

"Monitor cable", is needed ro control a monitor turning it "on" and "off" and sending a "signal"  in order to "bright", "dim" and other functions. It has only 3 wires. But it seems not working at all with Bv5 monitor. So, i think some differences between Bv5monitor and Bv4monitor......... What is the difference?
