Hey guys,

I recently purchased a Beogram 4004 with the initial idea of setting it up with a preamp and some active speakers to create a minimal setup. I am now tinkering with the idea of buying a set of BeoVox S80.2's to pair with a Beomaster. I have my idea on the following models but honestly know very little about then technically this is purely a aesthetic standpoint! Beomaster 8000 and the Beomaster 6000. Which one would you recommend to go alongside the above 2 items?

Cheers, Jed.

Hi Jed,

The Beomaster 8000 is from a later period than the Beogram 4004 so the styling is different. I would go for a Beogram 8000 or 8002 to go with the Beomaster 8000.

The Beogram 4004 goes with a Beomaster 2400 if you want the Beomaster that has the compatible remote control functionality with the BG4004.
I would probably opt for the Beomaster 4400 in this case though. You would sacrifice the (minimal) BG4004 remote control capability with a better amplifier. But...it sounds like you aren't really needing the amplifier part since you  have power speakers. So probably the Beomaster 2400 after all.

The Beomaster 6000 (Type 27xx) styling goes with the Beogram 4004 so that is an option. The BM6000 Type 27xx is a quad-stereo receiver.

The other Beomaster 6000 (Type 225x) is back to the styling of the Beomaster 8000 and the Beogram 8000/8002 turntables.

Hope that helps.

If you are going for the correct era, The 2400 for remote control or the 4400 for the sound. The 6000 (the later one that looks like the 8000) is very similar to the 4400 in electronic design. The 8000 is much more powerful and was designed to be as good as B&O could go. Better suited to the Beogram 8000/8002 but I have used one with a 4004. Sounds very good - To be honest, sound wise, the 4400, 6000 and 8000 are all very good - the 2400 is certainly not bad though the 2200 is better.I have had most of the B&O receivers and the keepers are the 4400 and the 8000 along with the Beolab/Beomaster 5000.

Setting the 4004 with a preamp and active speakers would be fun though! Beolab 8000s are stunning looking speakers and quite cheap now.

Hey mate,

Thanks for all the information! Yeah it seemed to me the 8000 was of a later period but it does look great. As for the 4400 i did look into it but visually im just not a fan.

Is this Beomaster in the below picture the 2400 by any chance?

The 6000 is another i really liked but doesn't seem as commonly available as the 2400 so might take me a while to get a hold of one. It would like look my setup would end up being a Beogram 4004, Beomaster 2400 and some Beovox S80.2's.

Cheers, Jed.

Hey Peter,

Thanks for the response mate, I quite like the 2400 but the 4400 just doesn't look great to me, maybe too much metal or too much wood for my liking. The 8000 was certainly top of my list and if i had manged to find one i would of bought it already, seems like the 2400 is the easiest option. You seem to have a lot of experience with the various models, have you used the Beovox S45/S80.2 before? I actually really like the 8000's as well actually, they were first choice before i found some S80's. As for the active speaker setup i am still tinkering with the idea! i can still use a beomaster if i decide to go passive.

Cheers, Jed.

The 4400 is one of my favourites.
