This is one long (and might be a terrible read..) post. If you do find the time to read it and have something to ad it might take some weight of my shoulders, and it would be much appreciated.

So, this is how the system works today: Avant 55 is connected through Wisa with BL90 as mains and BL4000 as rears (using the BL Wisa recivers on the rears)

I also have a Core with PL cables going to the BL90.

My main source for both music and movies is an AppleTV 4 going straight to the Avant using only an HDMI cable.Thats it.

The idea behind implementing the Core came at a time when I was moving from one place to another and had to keep the tv at my old place for some time, and moving the speakers to my new place, so to be able to use the speakers while not having the tv I decided to get a Core so I could stream music with my phone. This used to work for some time when I was moving between apartments, the biggest issue for me was mainly volume control, witch I only had through my phone. So after connecting my tv back to the speakers at my new place I startet switching on the tv every time I wanted to listen to music in order to have volume control through the Beoremote One. In other words the Core is more or less not active at all nowadays.

The reasons being if I want to switch between TV and Core I need to accsess the B&O app and connect to the speakers and tell them what input I would like to use. There is some automatic input switching inside the speakers, but unfortunately not if using the Wisa connection, then it must be done «manually» through the app. This rather small inconvenience paired with the volum control only adjustable with my phone makes using my phone as main mucis source trough the Core far less enjoyable than I would like it to be.

I know there are a few options as getting an essence control, or a new Beoreomte One with BT functions (my Avant Beoreomte One is IR only) for volum control on the Core. There might also be some other options that I don’t know about. My dealer gave me an IR receiver (round one with a few buttons) that I plugged into the Core, witch was supposed to give me remote control. This I never got to work.. It only gave me the possibility to turn on/off the speakers.

If streaming music from my phone with volum control was the only issue I could easily do this through the AppleTV, but it would be nice to not having the TV switch on every time I want to play music.

Ive been using the system as is for the past 6 months or so and its been working ok. But playing my mucis through AppleTV is far from ideal. Ive been looking at several options and finally (as some unexpected money came my way) decided to try a few. I have zero experience with any of them, and as they are on the way and soon to arrive I could use some input on how to best integrate them. (Or just general tips, tricks and recommendations)

My first new «investment» is just a remote control, the Beoreomte One with BT functions. Ive been reading a little bit up on it and it seems I could use this controlling the Core that I already have and also switch between BT and IR mode to cotrol the Avant. As another member of this forum posted, its 5 button press between IR and BT mode, and vice versa. This would make using the Core more convenient - although not eliminate the need to switch between source on the BL90 trough the app..

My second and maybe a bit more exiting «new» B&O gear is the Beosound Moment. I can’t make up my mind about this one, but the prices are not that bad buying it second hand, and thers no doubt that I can resell it for the same amount I spent if It fails or becomes cumbersome. This is also my thinking behind the third «new» gear, the «old» Beosound 5. This was even cheaper than the Moment and has always looked superb to my eyes, might not be as «handy» as the Moment, and it might also be slightly outdated, but id really liked to try a few options, as my experience with these systems are non existing.

My plan as of now is to connect the Moment to the Core, as this would give me the option of listening to music without the TV turned on.

To turn the system on, I would have to go into the B&O app and select source on the BL90s, and then the Moment is all set. (If I’m not mistaken)

The Beosound 5 system on the other hand needs the ML/NL converter (witch I lukely have laying around, used it before to connect my Besound 9000 to the Avant) and I guess it needs to be connected to the Avant? Witch might be leaving me with the same problem I have with the AppleTV, needing to switch on the TV to use it and play music.

There might be some really obvious way/s of making these systems work toghter that have not crossed my mind. If anyone found the time to read trough this post, and make any senes of it, I would be very thankful for any advise!

As a side note, the Beosound 5 comes with the Beo6 ( I think its called) remote control - although im not sure if this is useful.

And if anyone have some input on upgrading the Beomaster 5 system with a new SSD hard drive that would also be much appreciated. (After reading several threads on this forum regarding this topic, I’ve order a Wavlink hard drive docking and the Crucial MX300 1tb hard drive, and I belive I’m all set to give this a go)

So just ro recap, to make this post go from what’s above to one sentence.. - how would you best integrate the Avant with the Moment, Core and BS5?

poodleboy:

Unless I got the history wrong, you have bought the majority of your kit from the after market. If so, there does come a time when it might benefit you to hire a B&O expert to go through your entire system and hold her/him accountable for results. Or maybe not.

I agree there.

At first someone with that many options/devices must find out, what he wants to do, how he prefers accessing his/the music, radio etc etc.

Then someone ‘in knowing’ can give the right advices.

Not that the op can’t do that on your own, but it will probably be much trial and error.

Nice video from Ethan - but does not help much to the subject of the thread.
