So, I now have my Beolab 7.2 working with the HDMI ARC on my LG OLED.

Volume is controlled natively with the remote control from tv.

No static from speaker at all Big Smile

I think the volume is regulated inside the box. But it is done via signal from the tv through the cable. No need for setup other than choosing arc output and activating hdmi-cec.

I haven’t tested the other rca outputs, but I believe they are. I will see if I have a cable somewhere so I can test it.

Considering that I have to see if there is anyway to build the hdmi connection into the back of the Beolab 7, it will be dismantled.

Wouldn't it be cool if we could get that stand to move as well?

Looking forward to the pictures Smile

Very nice work Peter Pan.

Here are internals. I was wondering if it would be possible so solder the powerlink directly to the board, using the 5v input as trigger. Any ideas?

Brilliant.

Yes, making the stands work via a similar method is surely possible.

We have two motorised floor stands for BV6/7 just in our stores, one boxed.

Seems a shame they have no use anymore.

The Cirrus chip actually have a few spare i/os but unfortunately I cant make out the marking on the other chips, except for the opamp.

An Arduino Nano would run a stand without breaking a sweat...

How did you manage to mount your TV on the stand? I have planned something similar for the weekend as my mom just bought a new 55" TV ;-)

I will replace the BL 7.2 with two Beolab 600 in her setup.

Current System

  • Livingroom: BeoVision 7 MKV + BL7-4 + 2xBL 6000 + BL 2 + 2x BL 4000;
  • Bedroom: BV 7-32 MKIV / BL7-1
  • Office: BV 7-32 MKIV / BL7-1
  • Kitchen: BV 6-22;
  • Bathroom: BL 3500
  • Entrance: BL 3500

Hi Leo,

Brilliant! One question though:

Does your setup work with Dolby encoded programs? Or did you need to set up your TV sound to Linear PCM audio only?

In my experience some (most of but not all) of those boxes work very well with Linear PCM audio but will output only static or digital noise when they're feed with Dolby 5.1 audio coming from the TV.

Thank you.

Doesn't HDMI ARC only output stereo?

Beoplay A2
Beoplay Earset
Beoplay H6 (Gen 2)
Beoplay S3 (pair)
Beovox CX50 (2 pairs)

Beovox RL 6000

Ah, Maybe yes, I dont know. But it would make sense:
now you say it I remember when I tried something similar it was with the optical output of the TV.

I get sound from all movies I watch on Netflix, so I guess the decoding is correct.

HDMI ARC should carry full signal, but this box outputs stereo. Which is what I need it to do Big Smile
