Here are pictures of my old B&O Pick-up set.

The pick-up weight is seen here, look at the shadows how it will tilt when the pick-up is lowered and weighs too much.

Great photos and Decca Phase 4 stereo brings back such memories !

I know of several people who bought these records thinking they were getting quadraphonic discs :-)

I think we should all pitch in to send Geoff Martin an umbrella, or at least a parasol -- he's gonna need it!

Seriously, though, what unique audio problem is this trying to solve?  The only other line array I've read about (https://www.soundandvision.com/content/dayton-audio-epique-cbt24-speaker-system-review) is trying to avoid room boundaries causing timbre change when you move around, especially eliminating "floor bounce" by having the individual speakers in the array interfere with each other.  But outdoors there is no such problem.  Also I don't understand why B&O (or Origin, for that matter) would be interested in a 70V transformer system.

Is this a way to get a broad sweet spot without using the acoustic lens?  (Just imagine that outdoors -- you'd get popping drops coming off the driver cone, like some kind of Blue Man Group performance...:-)

Not sure why Geoff Martin is mentioned here or why he should need an umbrella...

....it never rains in Struer anyway ;-)

Line arrays have been and are constantly being used in outdoor (and indoor) sound venues - everyone at a bigger event will have noticed these speaker arrays at either side of a stage, I guess.

Here is how the reasons for that can be described in short:

One of the most impressive advantages of a line array design is its ability to mitigate the SPL fall-off over distance.

In simple terms this means the speakers can be placed further from the listening area and still provide the required sound levels.
Inside a home this is unnecessary. However, outdoors this effect is very desirable.
Imagine speakers placed in the far corners of the backyard that project across the landscape
and still provide quality sound on the deck or pool area’

I am pretty sure, that there are B&O costumers, who want this effect in their garden - to ensure that the neighbours will have some fun too ;-)))

It's lame humor: Part of his job is listening & measuring, then adjusting the DSP -- and you can't do that indoors for these speakers unless you have the theoretical boundary-less room, thus he would be working outdoors in the weather, ergo...

Oops, right you are, I'm just 30 years behind the times.  There is actual science and not just "a bigger pile of speakers" a la Woodstock merely because a single driver had insufficient maximum output for the venue size.  See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line_array

I just picked up a Cona, unfortunately like most Conas it’s battered to hell. But, they don’t come up for sale that often so I had to.

Intriguing? (sic)

Precisely what, is the nature of this 'intrigue' you think that speaker stands might add?

If those speakers were on stands, do you perhaps suspect that we might all be stroking our metaphorical beards and wondering: -

"Hmm....how intriguing -  those speakers are somehow achieving a seemingly effortless state of mid-air suspension? Could this conceivably be due to those 'intriguing' stand-like structures located immediately below the speakers themselves??"

I remain profoundly intrigued. ;-)

Nice speakers

I wonder whether the different woods have any noticeable effect on the sound?

Did you re-spray the white finish? If so, do you happen to know the RAL colour.? We have always used RAL 9016 - Verkehrsweiß or Traffic/Signal White

PS -  I love what you've done with the place - that distressed look is coming back isn't it ;-)

Henrik,

I am positively jealous! Congratulations. Very impressive achievement.

I must "make do" with M100 speakers, which I LOVE. Oddly enough, just yesterday I completed my fret post replacement project and noticed the med-range foam was falling to bits. Back to my speaker guy who does perfect work.

I really appreciate your collection! Bravo.

Hi all.

I am new to B&O. I’ve been into hi-fi and av gear for many years but have always thought of B&O as kind of a posh thing for people with too much money.

Over the years i’ve had a LOT of different speakers, amps and tv’s. Mostly danish gear such as Holfi and Densen amps, and System Audio speakers. More recently i also had a fully equipped Dolby Atmos home theatre in our annex and in the living room a setup with an LG OLED B6, Densen b250cast, a Densen power amp, and a pair of System Audio Ranger speakers.

But somehow i felt that now was the time for me to quit large speakers and heavy amps for something more sleak, and the Beovision Eclipse seemed like the best option for me. I listened to it in my local shop and decided that i could actually live with the sound from the soundcenter for music listening, i would have never thought that i would ever be satisfied with a built in tv speaker. So here is my very first B&O setup, and i absolutely love it!!!

Beovision Eclipse, Beolab 19 and a pair of the new H9I headphones.

Could you describe/ decode the third picture for us ?

Is it showing how the Eclipse can be moved away from the wall ?

Thanks

Think it’s a PS4 tucked away behind the screen.

Hi Elephant, and thank you.

Yeah, is’s a ps4 (Pro) on a wall mount fitting perfectly behind the screen. Super cool solution, making sure that i have absolutely no cables showing at all 👍🏻

Fidse, I’m guessing you’re based in Denmark - very danish looking home and of course the Kay Bojesen abe and Brøndby stadium poster gives it away :-)

Great looking setup, very neat and with a relatively low WAF I suspect.

I am very much bases in Denmark and yes, i have kind of a “fetish” for danish design, Wegner, Le Klint, etc. and now also B&O.

No doubt that WAF had something to say, she’s been hating almost every set of speakers i’ve had in the 10 years we’ve lived together. But this time, it was actually myself who got tired of the “cluttered” look i had. In the same space where my Eclipse 55” is hanging now, there used to be mashed in a 55” OLED AND a pair og System Audio Rangers. Needless to say it looked a bit packed. Picture and sound was excellent though 😃

Very nice setup Fidse.

Another Danish company 'Artcoustic' make excellent speakers and IMHO, are the best compromise between visual and sound quality.

Here's a pic from our London home - the speakers are the white panels  - no woofer required believe me!

Best,

Alan

Not a bad original setup either Fidse.

Sounds like you’re in the good books now though with the less cluttered look and the fabulous looking eclipse 55.

When I decided to swap my BL8000s to BL1s without ‘consulting her’ I wasn’t popular for some time. When the time came to change the BL1s I did consult and because she hated the ‘penguin’ looking BL9/20s I ended up with BL5s - result. Moral of that story is; always consult the other half.. you never know what mind come of it :-)

We are looking to expanding the house in about a year or so, when that’s done, we’re getting a pair of 18’s and a pair of 17’s for surrounds. She called the 18’s “a piece of art” so we’re definetely getting those 😃
