Is it possible to connect an ipod directly to a Beolab 2000?

Cheers

Nigel

No. There is only Masterlink socket on the BL2000.

I know a man who is working on it..  I sent him a BeoLab 2000 to dissect for this exact purpose.  Big Smile

He's currently at the bottom of this page, wearing a blue polo shirt.. Wink

Hi,

There is no way to directly connect an Ipod or any other audio source to the BeoLab 2000 indeed.

However..with a BeoLink Converter, you can connect your Ipod to the 7-Pin DIN input of the converter, connect the Masterlink cable from converter to BeoLab, and listen to your audio source on the BL2000 by activating the TV source via Beo4 or the direct control if you have a Mk2 version of the BeoLab.

I used this system in the past and it works great.

Hi Christophe,

Thanks for that, I did know about the solution with the Beolink converter (this needs to be the later type that can work as an ML driver).  I'm in the process of looking for a neater solution that doesn't need any other B&O products that would add expense or bulk, ie. making the Beolab 2000 a truly stand-alone speaker/iPod dock.

As an aside, the Beolink converter is also a good solution for linking a non-B&O TV into a Beomaster 5, as this avoids the slight audio delay that you get with the official B&O solution of a Behringer USB audio interface.  Basically, you Masterlink the converter to the BM5, then link the audio out of the TV into the converter.  Set the BM5 into Option 2 and press "TV" on your Beo4 to play sound from the TV through the BM5 and speakers!

In case you were wondering, I have 1,000 identical blue shirts - it makes deciding what to wear much easier in the mornings! Cool

When I get the Beolab 2000 working directly with an iPod, you will be the second person to know (after Lee, who has kindly lent me a speaker to experiment with!)  In the meantime, if you have the money and space to add a Beolink converter, this will let you play your iPod through the Beolab 2000 without a B&O master product connected.

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

Has anyone got a Beolink converter of the type Steve mentions (type 1161166) that they would like to sell (How much do these go for?)

How can I tell the difference between the 2 types?

Looking in the products section it says

"has a supplementary use in that it could be used with a Beocenter 2300/2500 which were fitted with MCL drivers to power an ML system. This requires the Converter to be of the newer type : 1161166. the older 1161466 is unable to perform this function."

I would want a newer type me thinks as I have a Beocenter 2300 which I might want to use it with at some point.

Looking at a photo of one on ebay it just says type 1161

Hi Nigel,

My wife is expecting a baby any day now, so I'm frantically decorating the nursery, building cots, planning routes to the hospital, etc......

I'm hoping to be able to sort out the speaker/ipod dock over the next few weeks once the new arrival has settled in - thanks for your patience!

Kind regards, Steve.
