Hi

It does not looks like we are going to get Spotify Connect for BS5 ;-(

However, does anyone know that the cheapest system is that I can get to have Spotify Connect?

I then want to attach the system to the USB interface of my BS5, so I dont need a Spotify Connect speaker.

Just like PM or Airport Express with audio out, just also including Spotify Connect.

Thanks.

This is unfortunately the way of the "cloud".  Any streaming/cloud product now depends on an external service on which you have no control.  Maybe enough people will get screwed over enough, and people will force laws to enforce a minimum service life, but I'm not holding my breath.  Even with a 7 layer OSI standard, you'd still need "metadata" exchange frameworks (for finding songs, etc.), and in today's fast moving world "ain't nobody got time for that".

Now I just get the message internet connection not available when I try to engage Spotify. Is this how anyone else's BS5 is working?

My dealer advised today that B&O have confirmed that Spotify will not be available on BS5 from May.

But too late unfortunately as Spotify isn't currently working. Without playlists it's a very limp feature for me personally in any event.

Time to think about a moment or essence.

So I had a look at the Behringer UCA222 (about $60 so not too bad).  But I don't understand how you connect, say a Chromecast Audio to it... there appears to only be RCA audio inputs on the UCA222, so do I then need to use a headphone to RCA converter to attach a Chromecast Audio to the Behringer UCA222?

Has anyone setup up a workable Spotify Connect solution directly to BeoMaster 5?  Keen to hear some specifics.

Many thanks in advance.

I asked the same question of Steve at Sounds Heavenly.  I am sure he wont mind me sharing his reply and links.

"Thanks for your enquiry, first you need the USB adapter to connect to the Beomaster 5:-

This cable will connect the Chromecast Audio to the USB adapter above (a 1m Chromecast cable can be supplied free of charge with the USB adapter on request - please ask for this when you order the USB adapter):-
