Ok age old problem how to connect Apple TV to 7/32 MKIII.

Has anyone used a HDMI to SCART converter, does it work and do you loose any picture/sound quality.

And could you retrofit HDMI to this model TV

Also what is the best product you have found to clean the screen glass, 4 year old finger prints are a cleaners nightmare

Many thanks all

I use this one on my old Avant:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/SCART-Converter-Adapter-quality-converter/dp/B007WRPJX2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375256463&sr=8-1&keywords=Hdmi+to+scart

Easy to set up - not the best picture, but it won't get better.

A compromise, but allows me to use the ATV in the linkroom.

There is a tv - and there is a BV.

Isn't there a DVI-input on the BV7 32"?

Too long to list....

Yes there is, but is my understanding on the DVI connection correct it only allows pictures not sound and I would have to install an Optical to Analogue converter for sound from the Apple TV.

Or would this route give me a better picture and sound quality ?

Thanks

For sure a better Picture AND digital Sound

Sound improvement:
depends on your Speaker set-up,
- if you use TVs Speakers only, Sound Quality is not an issue
- if you have a 5.1 set-up, via Scart this it is not possible to feed 5.1.

Ralf

HDMI / DVI = digital Signal with Resolution made for your tv (720p, 1080i etc.)

Scart = Lower Resolution, TV has to do upscaling...

So just to confirm, the DVI takes sound as well as picture? So all that is needed is a DVI -> Scart cable?

No, DVI is for video only. It can't carry audio like HDMI does.

No, I believe it effectively supplies the same image as HDMI but without the sound. That's always the balls ache problem. Trying to find a sound source!

Beovision Eclipse, Beolit 15, Beoplay A2, H6/H2, Form 2, Beoplay A3, Beovision 5-42 connected to a DVD1

interesting thread on Apple Community https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2611942?start=0&tstart=0 about the HD Fury

So I've ordered a Sounds Heavenly DVi to HDMI converter, a Lindy SPIDIF Digital to Analogue Audio Splitter and high quality leads.

I did a lot of research on the HD Fury and it seems you would still have a sound issue so defeats the cost (feel free to correct me on this)

Will give an update next week on how it went.

Question - Could you upgrade/retrofit HDMi to the BeoV 7/32 MKIII ?

All connected and working now and I must say I am rather impressed with the picture and sound quality when you take into consideration the the cabling and splitters involved.

What I like about doing such things and posting on this forum is what you learn, how boring if life was just all plug and go.

Hi Mark,

Good to know that this solution works. There are a lot of questions here on this forum about connecting Apple products to older Beovisions.

Thanks for sharing this solution with us and enjoy your upgraded setup! Hope it will do for the next few years.

Note: the BV must be HD ready - otherweise this wouldn't work 'out of the box'.

I suppose a BC7-32 MK3 is!
