Good news: The printed catalogue will be back this November, and a new version will be released every 6 months. The catalogue is said to be classy with even less focus on tech data (that can be found online).

B&O should do less mass marketing and more niche targeting. I mean come on ever since B&O tried to market themselves for the masses and behaving like upscale Bose no good has come with that. Focus on marketing in Design mags rather than tech mags I think that's the way to go. And go all the way eccentric in terms of design. Everybody is doing sleek and the rich and "tasteful" are eccentric so go BOLD.

FYI. This might be just me but I think somebody from B&O was definitely snooping into the forum for ideas because focusing on less tech and having a creative director of sorts are really in the vein of what I was posting like 8 months ago. Anyway execution was bad the new interiors of the boutiques were done in bad taste and the creative director doesn't seem to know what he was doing.

Note to B&O: A creative director in a company is suppose to put his signature style on every product, website layout and the boutiques function as a symbiotic whole.

You would simply never find a car or exclusive watch brochure without the lifestyle enticing pics, but backed up by at least a modicum of technical information relating to what your paying all that money for.

All about the balance i guess.

Or should I honestly ask, why do you keep up posting on this forum, if you are that much disappointed with Bang & Olufsen?

He does remind me of that character in the old Lil'Abner comic strip that always wandered around with a dark cloud over his head.

B&O has almost never focused on their specifications in their ads or brochures. Over the years I've also found that published specs often have precious little to do with how something actually sounds, it's just more window dressing in an attempt to one up your competition for people who usually have no idea what said spec means but like to quote it to prove how great they are because of what they bought. You bought that? My amp has less than half the distortion as that amp. What does that mean? Well, it's half! Unsure

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad

I'm not disappointed. My new 11-46 fantastic, and i try and support the brand and promote it at every turn.

I'm just commenting that the catalogue could be improved thats all. This is something that Bose do very well with their fairly pleasant gear.  They only have a handful of stores, but are very good marketing. Their sales last year, $2.5 BillionYes - thumbs up

I am not sure that you can compare Bose and Bang & Olufsen.

They are two rather different companie, two different brands - that requires different marketing, different strategies.

And as for the Catalogue - it is seems to be returning...

...but it won't please everybody, as we all expect different things from 'a Bang & Olufsen catalouge'.

Greetings Millemissen

Well.... What did I say about the tumbling Chinese market like almost a yr ago?  B&O is too little too late in that regard.

In the recent years I find myself less attracted to lifestyle electronics and more into the "exclusive"  types. Maybe that's something B&O should consider looking into. I mean selling more in quantity does not mean making more profit. I say more quality less quantity! The product line is seems to be even more all over the place now than it did a year back . What's going on?

The H3, H6 and Beolab 14 prepositions look so unbelievably pedestrian. What are they thinking? B&O shouldn't be looking to make affordable and great performing stuff because how do you do that when you have your own line of distribution and sales/support network to feed? Luxurious and great performing is the only way to go! And really the only way to survive! Aim high, price high sell less. Usually at a higher price point that's when you can get the aesthetic, built and performance to line up. Like I said before B&O is simply pricing too little for the beautiful electronics to really perform.

I mean who would have thought $1000 phones will sell like crazy before the iPhone?

And what's with the collaboration with Vertu? That so reeked of desperation. B&O made cellphones and now they stopped producing their own line of cellphones only to partner with another mobile phone brand??? What a disaster!

Tone down the mass marketing and make yourself seem like a club that the snobs want to be in.

Before buying the bv11-55, my father has seen a BOSE TV (yes they sells some tv set) and he was impressed by the sound of it.

I told him that he was crazy to spend nearly 6500 euros in this tv set without  looking at the b&o offer.

After our visit to the b&o store, his decision was easy to take even if he had to pay 2500 more.

Now he has an excellent picture quality, excellent sound, and plenty of useful features.

A litlle exemple ; he wanted to use an headphone and the sound of the tv at the same time (he is a little depth from one ear), it is possible with a b&o tv set not for most of the actual manufacturers.

It is maybe a detail but  the b&o tv are plenty of great details and these details should make the difference if you can see them, touch them or try them.

Well, a catalogue could be usefull but it is like a beautiful naked girl on a cover, I am sure you know what I mean.

" God is in the details ".Mies van der Rohe

Mass market production doesn't care about such details.

4 beolab 5,  beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2,  beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...

I wouldn't have even bothered justifying myself. Any member who questions another member's reason for adding to a discussion, simply does not understand the reason why forums exist: for us fans - and Chris is as big a B&O fan as anyone else on here - to point out things that are going well, and others that are not going so well. That's called a healthy discussion. Business success recognises this and learns from it.

Focussing on the original issue of this post...

...."will be released every 6 months".

That seems interesting.

There must be a lot coming, if updating every 6 months is concidered - I am curious.
