I need to extract audio from masterlink to a 3,5” minijack TRS (Tip Ring Sleeve)

Should I connect it  like this?

Masterlink            >>   minijack

White/Orange -L   >>  Sleeve

Orange +L            >>  Tip

White/Red -R       >>   Sleeve

Red +R                >>   Ring

Masterlink audio is distributed in a BALANCED audio format, so ideally you should insert a 1:1 ratio audio transformer in each channel, then you can UNBALANCE the audio to go into your minijack.

Masterlink >> minijack

White/Orange -L >> Sleeve

Orange L >> Tip

White/Red -R >> Sleeve

Red R >> Ring

Connecting like that would give you zero volume/sound. You should be able to get sound by connecting sleeve to masterlink shield and red and orange as you figured out.

Problem here is that you are opening masterlink to outside noise as the balancing is effectively lost.

Best idea would be to build an active circuit that would convert balanced to unbalanced signal like BeoLink Active does.

Oke, first I'll try without the BL-Active, solder a minijack straight to the ML, and go from there. If there is too much noise in the rest of the existing ML-wiring I will add the active kit.

Thanks for both answers!
