Sorry guys, but it still doesn't work the way it should. Today, I've purchased the 1611 converter and linked my Beosystem 7000 to my Avant 32 RF (8430). When I press play at the CD the Pentas jump on and show the correct information on the displays but I do not hear any sound. The same applies when using the Beocord. The cassette spins, the correct information appears on the Penta displays but other than that nothing happens. When I use the Beomaster, the speakers make random noise but nothing else than that. I've used a fully wired masterlink cable and a fully wired power link cable plus the aux cable for connection. One Penta speaker is directly connected to the Avant while the other Penta speaker is linked to the first Penta speaker. What could be wrong. Any ideas? Any help is highly appreciated.

Rgds,

Kai

Well, I have almost the same setup as you (BV3 instead of Avant) and I have just bought a pair of Beolab 4000 to use as surround speakers! I think they sound good, look good and is easy to place. I thought about Beolab 4500, but they would be "firing" the sound right over my head, but with the Beolab 4000 I can angle them down so that the sound actually hit my ears. I haven't mounted them yet, so can't comment on the mix of speakers, but I'm pretty sure Peter has the same setup and is very happy with it. So I would say that Beolab 4000 is a good choice!

Thanks again. I've just asked a professional round my corner, who's specialized repairing only BuO for nearly 30 years now. He doubts whether, two-way is possible in a setup of a Beosystem 7000 connected via 1611 to an Avant. So, is there anybody here who can confirm that it actually does work - also in combination with a Beolink 7000?

Kai

With the software, it works - had just the system myself.

Thanks, Peter. Last question: Which would be the optimal surround speaker in the setup - Avant 32, DVD2, Beosystem 7000 and Pentas as fronts (love them)? I still do have a pair of Beolab 8000 but am unsure whether they really fit in the environment. However, since optics are hard to judge, which would be the preferred alternative soundwise: Beolab 8000, Beolab 4000, Beolab 3 or Beolab 4500? Beolab 5000 again unfortuenately don't fit properly in the environment. Any other suggestions?

Rgds,

Kai

I use Pentas front, BL2 sub and BL4000s rear. I have not found a situation which would make me desire better rear speakers and the 4000s fit nicely on the wall.

Thanks Peter. And what do you do with the cables when placing the speakers on a concrete wall? Use a cable channel? Rgds, Kai

Works fine.

Had also the system many years ago.

Normally the system is set to a master-slave configuration. Where the master is in option 2 and the slave is set to option 0.

Because of the option - setting, the master 7000 to option 0, the ir reception is switched off. Software 1.3 makes it possible to send ir-status back to the beolink 7000 (or 5000) in option 0.

Don't expect to much about the RDS info on the Beolink 7000. It sounds very nice, but it only works for a few seconds. After a few seconds the beolink 7000 swithes automatically off. That can not be changed.

For me it was a rather disappointing discovery. Had of course also the Beolink 7000 RDS, software 1.3 and the 1611 converter.

For me, the setup was limited as it is restricted by it's software. Newer PC, NMusic or NRadio will not work. Not with a Beomedia or PC2Link.
