Smile

 Med venlig hilsen

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi there,

if I am using the Beolink Passive 1657 in this way, will the IR Receiver have any function control eg Volume, Mute etc or will it be eliminated for any control of the BeoLink Passive Audio into the PowerLink Din ?

Many thanks

Do I understand you right?

You want to use the BL Passive as an amp for some passive speakers.

You have connected the PL input of the Passive to the PL output of a BeoVision (the Eclipse?).

In that case there is no need for, because no use for an ir eye there (this is needed only when the Passive is connected as a linkroom device).

The volume etc is controlled via the BV through PL.

Be sure to use a fully wired PL cable - otherweise the Passive amp) won’t turn on (and off).

If you however, mean something else, feel free to write again.

Hi,

Apologies, I tried to reply to an earlier post that had the similar setup.

Background.

I have Beolink Passives 1657 and Ceiling Speakers in a number of rooms with ML cabling across the house. I moved in to the house and do NOT have a BeoSound for Audio Master.

I would like to use Spotify in rooms and so have been looking to connect Echo Dot’s to either

  • 1) Distribute to all rooms together
  • 2) Or connect individually to each Beolink Passive in each room.

For 2). I have tried connecting to the  Beolink Passive - PowerLink DIN as a test in one of the Rooms. I used a cable with that links to 2.5mm audio of Echo Dot and also links to USB for 5v trigger on pin 1 (from memory).

This works for 1 room ok, but I wondered if I will be able to use the Volume and Mute of the IR connected to that room Beolink Passive ?

Currently the IR does not control the Passive in this way, other than setting it to off, but not on.

For 1)

I am also looking at trying a Beolink Converter 1611 to operate as an Audio Master vial the ML to all Beolink Passives.

  • In that way, will the IT Volume and Mute work ?
  • Will I also need a B&O remote to set this up at all ?  Currently I don’t have any remotes.
  • For the Beolink Converter 1611, Other than connecting ML, what would the connections / pins be to input the Audio and if necessary, any trigger ?
  • Will I need a B&O remote to set this configuration up ?

Any advice, diagrams or other would be most appreciated.

Many thanks

Bob

Hi Peter Pan,

Yes, this is the method I am using to connect directly to the Beolink Passive and this works ok, but now I’m wanting to connect in to the Beolink Converter 1611. Would I use the same method of Audio In and Trigger on Pin 1 of the PowerLink on a 1611 ?

Do you have any thoughts on the other questions ?

Thanks so much for all the help and advice.
