MEMORIES RE-MADE BY BANG & OLUFSEN
Some things change, other things stay the same. And sometimes, very rarely, you encounter something timeless. The Beogram 4000 series turntable is one such product. Designed by Jacob Jensen in 1972, the record player is beloved the world over by enthusiasts, and immediately recognizable as such.

Bang & Olufsen is running a pilot project that aims to preserve, refurbish, and reimagine some of the company’s most iconic heritage products. The first release will be the Beogram 4000 series with the goal of updating the turntable to a contemporary product, while retaining the original design intent.

Join us at 3 Days of Design and learn how we are updating one of Bang & Olufsen’s most iconic products for contemporary use, while maintaining the integrity and timeless spirit at its core: to share timeless experiences for future generations and the memories they make.

However, I am getting excited! I WANT ONE!

B&O, please go ahead with this idea, B&O Classics as the "Singer" (Porsche enthusiasts know who this is..) of the AV industry.

Speaking of Porsche, the will launch more cars this year with the heritage badge & package, picking up design & colors from the past.

It actually seems pretty much like a new product will be spun from the classics. I do like the idea of a heritage collection or design through history but we can’t say for sure the new one will be a vinyl player but there still is a lot of vinyl being pressed and there isn’t many or any ones with the linear playback as B&O used in many devices. Will be fun to see where this will lead. It might be anything else too with the same idea and concept but other media. Curious!

I am wondering if it is a revamped BeoGram or some sort of extra box that allows a direct integration of the vintage BG with the current systems.

Mikipedia and MM are tight lipped, they haven’t even joined the thread. Smile

Happy to say my beogram is already fully integrated in to my net link system thanks to the moment. And these are coming up at bargain prices now, picked a 2nd up for the dining room last week for £600!

Some more information. Using Google translate it seems this is a new product.

It says the new edition will launch later this year.

Same here, but I would consider a BG that has NL capabilities, that can send the sound to speakers via PL or WPL, that I could join with other products, and that I can control with a remote.

A new B&O turntable is something I’ve dreamt about. A BG 4000 will cost thousands.

Ortofon? Soundsmith?

My brain wants the possibility to use any cartridge, but my heart says it would be too ugly. Designing a custom cartridge would probably very expensive and most certainly limit the choices that the user kan make.

Maybe Ortofon could deliver a solution based on their OM and 2M series? If so, a stylish custom housing can be made while the styli (ie the expensive part) would be the standard Ortofon OM styli. SInce the different styli in the OM series are interchangeable (see https://www.ortofon.com/om-series-p-550 ) this solution would offer a selection of cartridges.

There is an article on hifishark.com shedding a bit more light on this re-make.
